When we were really rubbish and not just in one game, plenty of us were saying that we actually prefer the Championship for the purity of such close football or some such tosh.

Now we are in with a chance, I'm wetting my knickers (figuratively) hoping for promotion.

    Funny old game.

It’s just another season at the end of the day. Whether we achieve promotion or not.

My passion really is suspect these days.

Promotion to the Premiership could spell financial ruin in the making, but I doubt it.
We have a well-heeled owner and in the Premiership are the clubs not big enough to tell the FFP wallahs to piss off, so that's all all right then.

Yep, at home, May 2nd (at the moment...)

As opposed to the continuing embarrassment of 20 years in the lower leagues making a loss every season?

Yeah, I'll take the £100m, 12 points, ongoing parachute payments and briefly being something other than a footballing irrelevance please.

In the second half of the second leg of three out of four of our play off defeats, the games blew wife open, the pressure got too much both teams forgot how to to defend, and Forest forgot more.

I give Lamouchi's team more chance than those other Forest sides of remembering how to defend when they have the pressure of their whole season boiling down to one crazy half hour.

If we get someone like Preston in the semis I’d like to see us rest some players in case we get Fulham or Leeds in the final.

We need to concentrate on beating West Brom, then QPR, then Cardiff, then Middlesbrough...

    One game at a time.

If first choice players are fit and in form, they should play.

Don't take the piss and potentially cause injuries, but don't be afraid to take a few risks.

My reading is that the Club is not serious about promotion this season, hence the lack of quality investment in January.

Lamouchi has been given one season to see what he can do. If he gets us to the playoffs and doesn’t succeed he will be given support for next year. If he succeeds in getting promotion against the odds, well and good.

It’s a complete waste of time people getting upset over the occasional setback.

Gabrielle has had her say on the automatic promotion places and I'm afraid the outlook isn't good...

I think Morrissey shares a few fans concerns.

    Perfectly put.

Every season we remain in the Championship we sink further and further away from the Premier League in terms of our ability to compete financially. One season up there would give us a fighting chance of either staying up or getting back up again within the life of the parachute payments.

We won't need to be in the playoffs.

    Honestly Captain that is ridiculous.

There isn’t that much difference between the bottom half of the Premiership and the top of the Championship.

All it takes is a good manager and decent recruitment to stay in contention in the Premiership .

Teams like Burnley and Sheffield United show how it can be done without breaking the bank.

Relevant examples, in that both appear to have fairly basic but sustainable game plans that stand up. We've got the manager who can drill such a system, just need some quality additions.

We'd cope up there no problem. If we didnt, we'd have the financial clout to go again.

I admire your confidence and hope you are right.
And I have to admit I did exaggerate quite deliberately.

    That wont happen.

Are you as pessimistic in other areas of your life as you are about football Capt?

But taking your scenario, if we finished bottom of the Premier League it would still be our best season for 21 years.
