Default Keith Stroud vs Nottingham Forest - Matchday 33

Hot of the heels of Trentside's Finest's last two games, which between them served as great summary of the side we have created, being:-

A great counter-attacking performance against one of the top sides in the division, were we found a way to way despite having little possession.
    And
A clueless performance where we struggled to do anything against one of the divisions' strugglers.

so obvious major question leading up to this one, is which of the two sides of Forest's schizophrenic nature will turn up for this lunchtime clash with table-topping WBA at the Hawthornes.

This is the return fixture to our opening-day clash at the City Ground, back when no-one really knew what Sabri, or the new players were about as all were still bedding in. West Brom took that fixture 2-1, with their goals comming from Kyle Edwards and Matt Phillips, the Forest goal coming from an out-of-position Matty Cash, filling in as we had no fit right-backs. Poor lad. He's never a right back.

    A Bit about our opponents
West Brom were one of the founding members of the Football League, back in 1888 and have spent the majority of their existence in the top tier, but not winning very much. They won the League title just once, way back in the 1919-20 season and have a 50% win record in their 10 FA Cup final appearances.
In recent times, they've become synonymous with the art of being a yo-yo club, not quite good enough for the Premier League, but able to spend parachute payments well enough to avoid dropping into the Championship for too long.
Their club bad features a very menacing looking Throstle, or Song Thrush, which I'm sure someone from the Bird Watching thread could tell you a lot more about than me. I can tell you without any hesitation that Thrush is not something worth singing about. Said Throstle is perched on a Hawthorne branch, Hawthorne being an invasive weed. Make of that what you will.
Initially nicknamed 'The Throstles', again after that bloody bird, the Clubs fanbase decided at some point, that this wasn't manly enough for them and they self-christened themselves the far less ridiculous sounding 'The Baggies', which according to their club historian was in honor of the gentleman who carried the club takings from the turnstiles in large bags, obviously a trait completely unique to them.
West Brom have played primarily in Navy Blue and White stripes for most of their history, a nod to the uniforms of the local constabulary, and the bars which most of their fans will see them from behind.
The club, as with many other of a similar size, is now under the ownership of a shady, aloof Chinese Businessman, so if you have a lager at half time, avoid the Corona. Also, I wouldn't recommend the hot-dogs.
And then there's this...someone was smoking something when they came up with this(credit to magicwoand).

Their squad is a mixture of fading, former Premier League almost-stars, such as Gareth Barry, Jake Livermore and Charlie Austin. Overpaid Championship superstars who have never been good enough for the Premier League, such as Kamil Grosicki, Hal Robson-Kanu and Ali Al-Habsi. And, perhaps most prominently of all, Lee Peltier, a star of seven loan appearances at Forest.
Their recent form has been patchy, as both they and Leeds have attempted to blow the sizable points advantage they had over the chasing pack, who now, having caught up, seem scared to overtake them and are doing crazy things like picking below strength sides against teams like Charlton.

    A bit about us
I mean, literally who even knows at this point? We win games where we have only 30% possession, lose games where we have 70% possession, look strong at the back one week, switch off the next. Look like our attacking talent is finally waking up, then it rolls over for another 40 winks. We have players injured, or are they, or were they just being rested? Meh.

Should be going into this with momentum, sadly we arrive at the Hawthorns on our arse. Should have taken the three on offer last night & put anything out to knock Albion off their stride, but thats history now.

Given the Charlton shitshow, theres suddenly sizeable pressure for a response, against pound for pound the best side in the league. Self inflicted, but here we are.

Team picks itself, I wouldnt entertain half the players who put the shirt on last night.

    Samba
    Cash Figs Worrall Ribeiro
    Sow Watson
    Lolley Silva Ameobi
    Grabban

I like Silva, but he gets in on the strength we've nowt else in that role & he steers well clear of fucking corners.

One League title, 5 FA Cup wins, and a League Cup win is “not winning very much”...

Are we only counting our European Cup wins these days?

I like to throw out a few deliberately sarcastic nuggets, because they drive any opposition forums mad when they pick up on them.

must win game now after the absolute shambles that was yesterday.

Don't know if it's me but guaranteeing a win yesterday and getting a draw against these lot seems a lot more logical but I'm not the manager.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. If we won last night and beat WBA with a fresh team it'd been hailed as a genius move. Likewise if we lost last night (quite possible, Lolley and Silva looked knackered anyway) and then again on Sat then it'd be managers fault for not utilising whole squad.

We've bounced back from set backs all season and we play better against the better teams. It'll be a different showing from us on Sat.

2-0 defeat and Magic Forest to hit the stratosphere, such will be the force of his ejaculation.

Great thread info condo-red, but you did miss the most important West Brom fact, they are the only club in the world to have a boiler as their club mascot.

Omg...I didn't know. That's brilliant and awful in equal measure...mind if I edit it into the original post?

No problem, edit away. His name is... “Boiler Man”. I only know this because I listen to The Frank Skinner show.

SL needs to revert back to the team, bench and tactics he used v Dirty Leeds.

It's now officially time to stop pissing around and get down to business.

If we don't produce a top performance, we'll get fucked up.

I've got an Ideal boiler in my new house, so I guess I can't lose either way.

Well, I have got to try and take something positive out of what I think is going to finally seal our failure to get auto promotion, which, honestly, did anyone ever really expect?

I think West Brom, despite some really crap displays recently, are going to win this.

    They’re shit boilers too.

I can recommend a far better manufacturer, if anyone’s interested.

When I look at this thread on Tapatalk on my phone there’s a really fit brunette Baggy taking a selfie. When I click into this thread she’s not here. This disappoints me nearly as much as our passing last night.

    Oh FFS.

I can't see anything but a right stuffing here.
They brought in some excellent players in January.
We may be without Ameobi, Grabban and Sow.
But when expectation is low, then Forest can produce the rabbit out of the hat!
But I doubt it is on Saturday.
