Cash has always had an engine, so playing further back allows him to cover more ground as in the modern game the full back is required to do box-to-box work whereas the winger doesn't as often.

Cash is also not particularly good at taking players on, and from a winger position you're up against at least the full back if not a covering midfielder too. As an overlapping full back you're usually up against just the full back.

I've always thought he could make a decent right back, my concern was over his positional discipline, ie - would he struggle against through balls played on his blind side. I though he might be better in a central midfield role alongside a holding player, so he can just run about and cover lots of ground, win the ball back, get us moving etc, but he's shown he can deal with the through balls to a winger very well though and he's absolutely one of the best full backs in the league.

Edit: Other young players who could move positions... Don't really see many options. Mighten can play wing/up front, Yates could possibly play centre back if desperate. Apart from that...

Experience, maturity, playing a more disciplined position (full back as against midfielder), better coaching, or some combination of those.

Instead he commits to a major stadium overhaul and stays rather prudent with signings. Which, to me at least, screams that he's in this for the long haul.

In news totally unrelated to current reality (i.e. football) we and you are interested in Boubakar "Kiki" Kouyaté, a Malian international centre-back, 23, currently playing for Troyes in Ligue 2 (the club the French press claim EM wants to buy). Tall (1.92) but fast, he's supposedly very good with the ball, hence he also plays as a DM. He has also scored five goals this season.

Both are excellent. And they're the same age, 23, which makes me doubt we'll be interested in yet another relatively youngung CB.
