The club he managed notwithstanding, I always admired Bill Shankly from afar, particularly the passion for the game that he displayed when interviewed.

    I'll second Ranieri. Top bloke.

Also can't help but like Jose and both his character and achievements.

And Dave Basset. My dad liked him and so I do too.

Frank Rijkaard for class he showed in dealing with the provocation of Mourinho and his Barcelona rejection issues.

Graham Taylor, lovely chap who did a lot with very little.

Sarri's (rip) Napoli were amazing. That was before his untimely demise after Chelsea though

Gian Piero Gasperini's current Atalanta side. Tearing apart serie A defences for fun.

Helennio Herrera and his take on the famous catenaccio and how he turned it from a none shall pass approach to inventing the attacking full backs that created the grande Inter side of the 60s.

    Gordon Strachan cos he's funny.

Chris Wilder for being a good coach but shit at paperwork during his A licence.

Mick McCarthy, wouldn't want him anywhere near Forest but he cracks me up.
    Bobby Robson, a beautiful man.
The Tinker Man, for his permanent state of bemusement about just about everything.

Louis van Gaal is another who’s as mad as the March Hare, but he’s another who’s an absolute winner.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

    *hope Sow's ere tomorrow...
He said that season was his greatest achievement in football.

It really was impressive considering how bad that United squad are.

My all time favourite is Ernesto Valeverde!

But now that I think about it, in a few years it won't be a valid answer for this thread!

David Pleat did that first. At least in a football sense. Ironic really.

Maybe that's why they couldn't get on. As his manager, Pleat didn't rate Davies. It wouldn't be like Davies to hold on to a twenty year grudge, would it?

What are you talking about? Craig Brown gave the KING his first coaching role in England at Preston.

What are you talking about? Billy Davies signed for Pleat at Leicester in 1990.

Pleat is to blame for first bringing Davies to English football.

As a player. Not one of the greatest manager's in the world.

Blimey. First time I've seen Pleat described that way.

DP did at least win a game in the top flight, but let's not go overboard.

Pleat was also crap at Leicester, which gets him my approval.
