Did well at Aberdeen, but couldn’t win with grace at United.

I've never seen as much hatred for Fergie as I did from a Uni mate who was an Aberdeen supporter. This was at the time only a few years after he'd left, but all the talk was 'Judas' and 'walking out'. For someone who won so much, he never appears to be that popular.

That's probably because he had a face like a beetroot and a penchant for winning games in stoppage time added on especially for him

I like Brendan Rodgers. Probably the most underrated manager in football.

Oh and how could I forget Diego Simeone.

If we lost Sabri and I could pick any manager in the world to succeed him, Simeone would be my pick.

Had Atletico punching well above their weight.

Jesse Pye, when manager of Wisbech Town, thought I was 'quite good' when we played a trial match. For that reason I harbour fond thoughts; however, sadly, I was not good for him enough to consider me for his team.

Has gone down a bit in my estimation when I just discovered, looking at his CV, that he played a few seasons for Derby!

Fred Pentland, a Legend of Spanish Football, despite being English.

    Still revered at Athletic Club.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

From times gone by, Bobby Robson. From the present day, Graham Potter.

Jose had Cloughie's wit and charm when he first came to England but has become a parody of himself and displays the worst characteristics of modern football. Remember the dignity that the great man showed during his relegation swansong and imagine how Jose would deal with that..

I think Lampard speaks really well and has an understanding of the game that most don't possess. Just a shame he associated himself with the sheep and (in particular) the ridiculous celebrations.

My favourites are the managers who get a smaller club competing with the big boys, but by playing properly and not shithousing their way. Simeone has done an amazing job at Atletico and Rodgers doing great with Leicester. Of the current managers I also like what Hassenhuttl is doing at Southampton. Bobby Robson was just a class act and a really nice fella.

From the past, it has to be Jimmy Sirrel for me.
Took Notts to the top division, and had precious few resources with which to do it.
From present day Nuno Espirito Santo.
He has built a team that plays attractive football and is threatening to break into the "Big 6".
