The Evening Chronicle up here in Newcastle is the same, as are all the local rags that are owned by the same group. I just don’t understand how they don’t just go out of business through embarrassment.

Yeh it's not just the NEP.

It's all the local rags owned by Reach PLC.

It boggles my mind to think what a day in the life of a journalist working for one of them must be.....get in, search Twitter and forums, bosh out quick crappy article. Don't proofread. Go home at 10am.

I highly doubt we'll see him play for the first team this season. He's an U23s signing.

He’s highly rated though, if he impresses he may force his way in.

    Sounds like Bostock’s replacement

Could he even be registered to play in the first team?

I think he’d need special permission from UEFA, having been signed outside of the window, but not totally sure if those rules apply to youth teamers?

He's a young lad who hasn't played at a level that is anywhere standard of Championship football yet. It's going to take him a while to adjust, I highly doubt he'll play a part this season at all.

McCleary was pretty inexperienced when he signed for us but still played the same season.

Took him a long while to make any meaningful impact though, and there are more experienced options in front of McGuane (whatever people think of the likes of Semedo, Yates and Bostock). I think it's incredibly optimistic to expect the young lad to be thrown into the middle of a promotion battle and do anything meaningful. I don't see Sabri taking that kind of risk at this point in the season.

Neither are as intense as Championship football, admittedly, but he has played in European competition with Arsenal, and Dutch league football with Telstar.

For that reason - and I may be proved wrong of course - I'm not totally convinced that, as a 21-year-old, he's joined us in order to drop to development level.

I don't think he is signed just to play U23 football I agree but I do think he is one that is signed more with an eye on next season, hence why he is initially linking up with the U23s rather than the first team.

As much as some people don't rate Yates, Semedo and Bostock, I think Sabri will see all three as safer bets than chucking this lad into the deep end at a crucial point in the season.

You never know, he might surprise us and cement himself a place alongside Watson over coming weeks. Here's hoping.

You make a fair point, although has it actually been confirmed that he will link up with the U-23s or (to use Nottingham Post parlance to disguise the fact that they don't have a clue) is it "believed" or "understood" that he will?

It was the NFFC Acadamy Twitter account that announced the signing and not the main NFFC. That actual Tweet states he's signed for the U23's until 2020. So, yeah. It's not just the Post this time around.

Rubbish. No appearances for Arsenal, only one for Barcelona. Not good enough for Forest. Next.

Barcelona have never beaten Forest anyway so I'm not convinced that the standard of where he's come from is good enough.

Good point, well made. Let us hope the young man is more successful than the last player Forest signed from Barcelona.

I always said that Messi was no good.

We were right to send him back.

    2022, not 2020, I'm pretty sure
