I am the only one who absolutely hates Christmas and all the consumerism bollocks that surrounds it then?

When the sun is shining is the time to have off work. Not when the weather is shit.

    For some.

I'll be working 14-16 hours on Christmas Day getting the parcels that our delivery partners have failed to deliver in some kind of order so that my staff can take the flak on the doorsteps on Boxing Day onwards as our partners staff get a few "well earned" days off.

It's all a culmination of the busiest month of the year that gets more despicable and abusive every time.

On a plus point we all make a shitload of money, but being called a **** doesn't really make up for it, such are peoples expectations these days.

It'll be the first proper Christmas on my own since my sister and mum died and tbh I'm not looking forward to it one little bit, then you get into January and continue working your bollocks off doing all the collections for the shite that people buy in 23 different sizes that they want to return.

It pays the wages, both mine and the staffs, but I'm with Strummer, I absolutely detest this time of year now and can't wait for it to be over.

Don't worry, I will be avoiding this thread going forward and hope that those who do revel in it enjoy it as much as possible, but for many, not just me it isn't a great time of year.

Don’t worry I have enough Christmas twinkle for everyone.

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

Keith, why don't you invite all your staff and their families in for dinner on Christmas Day and play "sort the parcel" in the afternoon. Many hands make light work.

Same about mince pies and Christmas cake. Hated them up until about 5 years ago. Now would fight you for them. ‘Don’t bulleh meh’ style.
