No one wants racist abuse, but is it abuse when no one cares about the victim's experience, but instead decides beforehand what that person feels and experiences? It seems patronising to me.

This stuff has spilled out from social media, where the opportunity to be outraged and to moralise has become a sport.
Exactly, nobody would have gave two shits if he just called him a bastard "get on with it mate, it's your job".. well no it ain't his job and he ain't there to be abused. Get in the ground early enough and the stewards will have a chat with you, me and my old man have had many a chat with the stewards at away grounds about anything and everything from the football on offer to Dobie Gray at Wigan. End of the day they are there to earn some extra coin and to hopefully see a bit of footie.

The way I see it the insutler is a dick and that has nothing to do with the fact he mentioned a persons skin colour but unfortunately how society is now people will only call him out on it because he said "black"

I can confirm that in my time as a steward, I was given plenty of abuse. None of it related to my skin colour though.

I was taking the piss but how you have described free speech, that ain't free speech.

Free speech is being allowed to say what you want, being arrested for that removes the "free" bit because then it just becomes you are only allowed to say what we deem ok, that ain't free speech my man, that's 1984 shit.

Can you not be arrested for opening your mouth or has that stopped happening all of a sudden?

    When exactly did it start?

Pretty sure it's always been a thing. Hence why I said nothing has changed.

Even the first amendment to the US constitution made exceptions to Freedom of Speech (namely:- Obscenity, Lying, Fighting Words, Threats, and Inciting Violence...)

Not sure when it started but I know when it got a lot worse with the populism of the internet and social media.

Society as a whole has gone all scouse.

it depends on the nature of the free speech bazza, doesn't it? If its something that might incite violence, you obviously have to stop it. If its hate speech, and what they are saying is deemed by society as wrong, then you stop it. I don't see the comparison to 1984, especially when it comes to normalized hatred towards those of a different colour.

I mean obviously I DO see the comparison of 1984 the removal of [Redacted] [Redacted] but it’s never black and white like that.

    I blame God.

It would have been so much easier if the Big Man had made us all the same shade of grey.

What’s Mr. Clough got to do with it?

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“
