    Absolute clowns, get rid asap.

Club's had a mediocre start where both are struggling for form and creativity, and they're on the piss on a school night to the extent they crash two vehicles. Could have killed someone (and it does, on a far too regular basis).

Would you expect to be sacked from your job if you were caught drink driving? What they've done is awful and they should be punished for it. But let's try not go over-the-top here, as bad as what they have done is.

They should terminate their contracts if they admit matters or are found guilty.* Irresponsible and dangerous and should not be representing our club. Compare those two with the likes of Milner who* has not touched a drop whilst being a professional footballer.* He has over achieved in his career.* We are left with these players, one who thinks he is Ronaldo when a wall is in front of him and the other who should be content with living most peoples boyhood dream.

People can lose their job for having criminal convictions.* This is about responsibility and conduct.* I am a solicitor and would be potentialy struck off for behaving in this way.* It is not over the top at all.

People saying we should cancel their contacts etc, completely disagree. Fine them, suspend them for a few weeks but to release two fairly good players is ridiculous. If they had injured somebody else I would have a different opinion on it but the only thing they hurt was themselves, their cars and their wallets. And no, before people start saying that I 'support drink driving', absolutely not, but releasing them won't do any good. The best way to punish them is to dock pay, suspend them for a bit and make them go on a drink driving course etc (as well as whatever the court decides). Disagree with me all you like but that's my opinion.

    Good players is debatable.

Not to sound pessimistic, but their driving licenses will now probably have more points than we do so far this season.

Force them to take part in charity events raising money for drink-driving awareness, etc. Humiliate them. Throw the book at them. I'm all for it. But sack them? Not for me. That just hurts them*and*us.

You missed the tweet showing Bennett had been at the walking football sponsored by Drinkaware the previous day?

It’s disgusting that these two hard up professional footballers couldn’t afford a taxi. If they had asked I could have given them a sub.

And we were worrying about Rooney having a bad influence.

    Imagine if it was Keogh.

    Good job he can't drive.

The weather was terrible last night. They may have been following each other home and one of them misjudged a puddle taking the other one out. They may only have had a couple of pints (enough to* put you over the limit) which im sure the majority of us have done.

The level of hysteria being metered out due to what boils down to a prang is ridiculous.

Not surprised it was them two together, they seem close, however, I expected in a more friend way not total Bamford way.

    Typical, hit the post again.

It takes a special kind of idiot to be on the amount of money these pair of morons get and not to phone a taxi they obviously knew they were unfit to drive but still chose to, thank God they didn't kill someone else.

I've been told that Lawrence actually hit Bennetts car at the junction, sending his car into the trees, before accidentally hitting his accelerator and wrapping his car around the lamppost. Dont be surprised if more comes out of this story either.

They could have been "drunk" without actually being drunk.

I have posted a clear notice at the top of this topic which asks members not to use this forum to create or spread unverified rumours from social media about*the incident. Posts are being removed, and warnings will be issued.

I despise drink driving but there's a massive difference between being "over the limit" and being "drunk". Just cos the Police twitter account says both drivers were "drunk", it doesn't mean they were.

They have been receiving intense coaching off Dean Saunders.

Has anyone mentioned Bennett passed his test a couple of days ago (maybe even the day before). He tweeted about it saying he got three minors and has since deleted it...

Sounds like Keogh also involved and will miss games with his injuries as a result of the accident.

Surely Keogh should be the sensible one here and not get into a car with an intoxicated driver?

Keogh was in the back seat which means more players are involved. We haven't heard the last of this one.

I usually staunchly defend Keogh but, as captain, surely he should have been doing everything in his power to dissuade Lawrence and Bennett from getting into their cars when intoxicated? What's worse is he then encouraged it by getting in with Lawrence and has managed to injure himself in the process... it's massively unprofessional especially for the captain who should be leading by*example off the pitch as much as on.

Keogh has broke his wrist and suffered a knee injury. Out for Saturday and for the foreseeable future. Internal investigation into what’s happened.
So not only have these utter moronic dicks endangered the lives of residents, but they’ve also put the club in jeopardy by causing the Injury of one of our more important players. Utter fuckwits, don’t want to see them put that shirt on again- they’re not fit to wear it.

This just gets worse and worse!* This post does not contain an anti-Keogh agenda but IF he was in the car and IF there are convictions arising out of this he too had*a responsibility (both personally and also as the Captain representing our club) to have stopped them getting in the car.

Keogh can’t actually drive himself so maybe he wasn’t up to speed on drink drive laws?? Got to give him the benefit of the doubt imo.

That our captain was a passenger in a car driven by an under the influence team mate is outrageous and unacceptable, even if no crash had occurred.* The drinking culture at this club needs addressing and pronto.

Perfect statement from the club. Condemning their actions, emphasising that it was their choice to carry on after the others left and to ignore the offer of cars laid on by the club. I also support the choice to favour*rehabilitation and community work over sacking.

Keogh shouldn't get a single penny until he can put on a shirt again. I'd also suggest that Bennett and Lawrence don't get a single penny until Keogh can put on a shirt again as well. Bennett will no doubt feel the pinch, but duck him. Cocu, get yourself out of this clown club. The whole club needs putting in the bin at this point.

I'm guessing season tickets in league 1 will be cheaper for next year.

This club has become infected, we used to be a well liked club that fans would have time for, now we rival teams*like Leeds as being despised by other fans.

This is not just down to the players, we often make the headlines for non footballing reasons nowadays, it seems to be inherent throughout the club, FFP, new managers every two minutes, bust ups etc, etc and accumulating in this, whatever happened to that club we had that went to Wembley under McLaren, defying the odds and a untied club from top to bottom.

Good job we now have the Derby way.

Seeing some more interesting things on Instagram that paint this whole even in an even worse light. Obviously unsubstantiated so won’t post, but worth a look.

Members that are ignoring the large red notice at the top of this topic are being issued warnings.

Please do not use this forum to create or further spread unverified rumours from social media on*the incident.

Surely the landlord should have given them a lift, think of the money he's going to miss out on now?

Footage has come out of Bennett being sick due to how drunk he was. The person seemingly recording the footage whilst giggling along with it? New captain Tom Huddlestone.

What a ******, he has*a young daughter too. Wtf was he thinking.

    He should serve time.

Front page of a national newspaper.*So utterly, utterly*ashamed.

Call me cynical but I don't think Bennett gives a poo. He's up to his usual tricks of following / liking multiple barely dressed models on instagram. I know this only takes seconds to do, but surely step away from social media and sort yourself out. Priorities much?

I can't believe that after all this, we make the bloke who filmed it and put it online, our new team captain. The*club is totally incompetent.

I'm seriously considering finding a new club to support.

Same, I don't live near Derby anymore so what's the point?

Some people are massively overreacting to this. Yes, it’s not great, but finding another club? Jesus. Plastic fans the lot of you who are considering this.

Mate, how about you stop talking ballcocks and stop acusing people of being plastics? - I've had a season ticket for over 35* years* and I've never found myself feeling so embarassed about following my club (not even after the infamous PL season). People are feeling genuinely hurt by the actions of these morons and we're angry that the club has been dragged through the mud again. The vast majority will still turn up tomorrow and get behind the team (as will I), but acusing anyone who struggles to get their head round this and questions whather they want to be associated with the latest embarassment doesn't make them plastics - if anything, it shows how much the club means to them...

We're going to get plenty of stick for seasons to come from the clubs of other fans (maybe payback time for those stupid Collymore chants we've been singing for ever).

Dowell, Malone, Martin, and*Bradley Johnson also confirmed now.

Keogh was found unconscious in wreck of Lawrence's car by the emergency services, what does that imply about the drivers' actions?*

Quite separate from the drink driving issue, anyone can be involved in an RTA, but there are certain legal requirements you have to fulfil when you are. This article suggests that the drivers might not have acted with absolute probity after the incident. That's without any consideration of the merits of leaving your unconscious skipper alone.

If it is the case that, after causing an accident as a result of their disgusting decision to drink drive, Keogh actually was abandoned at the scene then I would be more than ashamed if the club does not terminate the contracts of Bennett and Lawrence. That goes beyond anything that has been discussed so far and actually leaves me rather lost for words.

Forest are usually good at outdoing us when we*do something shambolic. Lets see you beat this one Dogs.

    I miss Fawaz.

Demis Roussos had such great potential with his match fixing, bakery burning, heroin smuggling antics, yet he's so far disappointingly beige.

Personally I'd sack the lot if at all possible. Made the whole club look like a shambles this week. Bennett is living every Derby fans childhood dream and for him to get in a car in that state is disgusting. The cherry on top is that the day before the incident he was visiting a drink aware charity. How stupid can you get!

The impact on this side with and without Keogh is about 10 league places and 20 odd points.

What a ducking bamford. Take the arm band off him and never allow him back into pride park.

You could’ve been a Derby legend Keogh. Now you’ll be anything but.

I’m going to make a bold statement and say we probably aren’t going to be making the play-offs again this year.

I've had some stinking hangovers in my life, but I've never woken up thinking "oh God what happened last night?" then realized I just ended my career.

    Cheers Calvin!

I still think there's more to this still to emerge.

I remember the days of Forest players slide tackling bar stools and the like. That was our nadir.

This is a whole new level!

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

Thanks for the extra effort Calvin.

To their credit most posters are appalled and ashamed that the actions of their players have reflected so badly on the club.

Impromptu dance-offs in Lacemarket pubs was the Forest way (), meanwhile in Derby, they seem to be trying to re-enact the last Mad Max Film!

Feel a bit sorry for them. Nobody deserves their club and the privilege of playing football for a living treated with such disdain other than Liverpool.

Well, I hope Bennett has ‘Uber’ and ‘Job Centre Plus’ numbers saved in his phone.

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

To be fair, Keogh doesn’t have a license, so he couldn’t possibly be expected to know that you can’t drive a car when you’re absolutely steaming.....

    Brilliant.

Well, it certainly sounds like some of their players have got busted.

Agent Rooney is warming up perfectly.

His influence and morals are clearly already rubbing off.

You've got to wonder if he's dicing with death. If Colleen won't move to Derby (and who in their right mind would willingly move there)then Wayne will have to drive across country every day to get to work. And after a team building exercise....well, you can see the problems.

You can be sorry for the genuine fans who are having their club's name dragged through the mud, whilst also enjoying the spectacle from vantage point of a rival club.
