Default Matchday 3: NFFC vs Birmingham City

    NFFC vs Birmingham City

After coming from a goal down to snatch a point away at Elland Road, (what is love) Sabri Lamouchi (j'adore) got his team on the 19/20 championship board with a resolute but restricted performance. Birmingham City look particularly worse for wear this season having lost key men Che Adams and Jota to the EPL vultures, but haven't let that stop them nicking an unlikely 3 points away from home at Griffin Park and getting a draw at home against much-hyped Bristol City. Birmingham got spanked by lower league Pompey last week so do not have a mid-week fixture to contend with, meaning Lamouchi may be forced into ringing the changes to keep his squad fresh.

Should see Sow or Bostock replace Watson.

Ameobi has earned a starting place as well.

    I'm confident.

    2-0

I also hope to see some changes and not the same starting lineup.
Get at ‘em Forest from the off.

    Going for a 1-1 draw.

One of our more winnable games in August so it's vital that we pick up 3 points.

Hopefully with some of the new lads settled, we can make some much needed changes to the starting XI that has struggled over the first couple of games.

    Going for a 2-0 win.

    Wait, what?

Where’s the Forest vs. Joey Barton‘s Fleetwood Town League Cup Thread??

We’re treating the league cup thread with the same respect the club have the competition for the past 20 years

The cup matchday threads have had a different poster/numbering system for the last few seasons so just maintaining the new traditions.

I’m back guys for this one so here’s to our first league win of the season.

All I need to do now is try to remember who’s who, squad numbers and positions and stuff.

'Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings' - Salvador Dali 1904-1989

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

I always look forward to our encounters with Brum as good friends of our in Radcliffe hail from the West Midlands, and are knuckle-dragging Bluenoses to their dieing breath (so they say).
We normally meet up before the game for a spot of lunchington, travel in together then go our separate ways for the game before meeting up for a post-match pint at the Chestnuts in Radcliffe.
They are away on holiday so this year there is a break with tradition.
Also my Mrs will be on a girlie weekend in Scotland.
So with all of that, Forest and Brum having new managers (again), and both teams undergoing a bit of a rebuild it is going to be interesting.
We are seeing something of the Lamouchi approach with neat passing football high on his agenda, but as yet it isn't quite clicking into place.
Brum have for season's past adopted a "per-centage football" approach, but I don't know if they will be similar this season under their new manager.
It will not be a walk in the park for either team.
I am hoping for a Forest win - we need to make the WFCG a fortress again.
So, my prediction is a 2-1 to the Men in Garibaldi.
I wonder if Llorente, Bony or Hooper will be leading the line!!

First real opportunity to get a look at Lamouchis Forest pushing forward, banking on the fact we're going to be considerably more courageous in this one.

Would expect to dominate posession, string some passes together & have some of our supposed more prominent players get in the game.

Result suggests a cracking rearguard Sat, but the harsher reality is we looked susceptible all round to the high ball in & Watson struggled manfully to get us & the ball moving with any sort of consistency. Juitkewitz needs looking after aerially, so something has to give. Depending on what happens in the Fleetwood game, Id be considering making a few changes going into the Brum game. Carva goes straight in if fit.

We're yet to win and they're yet to lose, so I'll plump for a draw.

Probably a "how the hell didn't we win that" kind of draw.

Aye, I'm sensing another draw GBR.

Need to see plenty of offensive Forest play though.

Have to back up the good point at Bellend Road with a home win against Birmingham.

Well, despite all the incoming player of the last weeks, judging by what he says pre-Fleetwood, Sabri has set his team selection and doesn't intend to change it much. So those looking for a change in pace and cunning had better sit back and hope the present incumbents are going to improve dramatically.
