I don't blame him either. Some players aren't interested in playing for their countries if they are very low ranked. It's well documented that not playing internationally extended your playing career. We've only got to look at Darikwa to see the issues it can cause from overplaying.

Hope this guy is a cut above Pants, Muric, Smith and Steele otherwise it’s a fairly pointless signing

I doubt it. Pantillimon was on a nationwide record of clean sheets and the vast majority on here still insisted he was shit.

Samba kept 15 clean sheets in a division where his team went down, thats far more impressive.

Has he done enough to keep his place in the side?

He looked comfortable in all that he did, to be fair. He made several stops, including an outstanding claw-out in the first half, and looks like he's got a decent pass on him.

No reason why he shouldn't stay in the side.

He does seem to have that annoying continental keeper trait of pushing even tame shots away rather than holding them.

He aint going to be the most graceful of keepers, but he does seem quite good at keeping the ball out the net.

Samba to start next game definitely. Looks better than Muric, but more importantly he's ours anyway. So every minute we invest in him is investing in us, not Man City

Agreed, makes no sense to have our own keeper sitting on the bench now..

But you're all forgetting it depends on the deal drawn up with City for Muric - in maybe in the contract that Muric has to play!

In that case, send him back.

It's like the 'back stop' only worse.

There is no chance Muric will be displaced as number one unless he makes a number of horrible errors. We'll get fined heavily plus burn a bridge with Man City for potential future loans. They've sent Muric to us for game time and for him to grow as a player, having him sat on our bench is hardly us looking after him.

In that case it didn't make any sense going out and buying a new keeper when we already have shed loads..

We'll need Samba for both our cup runs.

It's still probably too early to decide who is the better just yet although Samba has made the more positive start albeit against lower league opposition.

What is for certain is that should it be Samba then he has to start, the better keeper plays simple as that! Irrespective of the contract to Man City we play the best GK and if we have to pay a fine or send him back so be it.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that and Muric finds some confidence and consistency.

I guess its a case of Sabri not rating any keeper we had when he walked through the door. Samba will be our cup keeper and keeper beyond this season. Giving him a year to settle in Nottingham and within the squad is certainly not a bad thing.

We may not have seen it yet but Muric is clearly very highly rated, he'll need time to showcase what he can offer in the team and build confidence. Plenty of "easier" games coming up to do that in. We ask for patience with managers, Im not sure why the same can't stretch to the players too, the poor lad has only had 2 games and pre season.

Why should we have patience if it costs us points?

He's not our player. If he costs us points again and continues to look like a rabbit in the headlights drop him.

It's not like the 'big clubs' have never rated young players that turned out to be duds before. I'm looking at you Luke Chadwick.

The only mistake I can think of which has cost us was the 1st West Brom goal. Either way I trust Sabri with whoever he picks, plus Im sure Pep knows a player when he sees one, if he rates him then Im happy to give him time to settle.

Because in the long run it might gain us points?

    Who knows?

To be fair, that is what goalkeepers are taught on the continent.
