That assumes the timing of signing players is solely down to the buying club.

Very well put and saves me the hassle of calling Mr fossil a ****.

    Cheers.

Fair enough, my mistake. I just remember quite a few raised eyebrows and considering Real Madrid were also reportedly interested just assumed he left as a big prospect.

Cheers for the explanation. Think the term is Sky Sports 'Zombie' though.

Feel free to correct me but by your logic if the 89 in your screen name is your birth year which I'm guessing it is (along with the fact you have a kid's videogame character as your avatar) then you were 1 when SkySports was founded, so surely would be considered a 'young fan' who is part of the 'Sky Sports generation' and an individual who also missed all of our significant past achievements?

From my experience on here it seems a selection of the younger fans are the most knowledgeable, reasoned and non-xenophobic. Shame I'd be classed as an old git without the extensive footie knowledge. I do like foreigners though. Apart from Dumitru (he was beyond shit).

Yeah I maybe am part of that generation but I never had sky sports as a kid, not many people did in the 90’s. I think it’s personally down to attitude not age. I haven’t seen any xenophobia on the forum. Only argument I’ve seen people make is they’re not automatically assume they’re good because they’re foreign.

Not wanting to pay 3m for 30+ imports who's physical game mean they have a shit load to adapt to over here in a short space of time, is deemed Xenophobia by the tolerant & reasoned types

Speaking of you accusation of xenophobia I see if quite a lot on here but mostly on Twitter. Often when someone doesn’t agree with someone they accuse them of being a brexit voter. Like it’s a insult, they’re trying to call them racist...and they’re having a discussion on a completely different subject to politics. Maybe this is a discussion for another thread so I’m not going to clog with thread up anymore.

But, but, everyone knows Brexiters are knuckle-dragging Neanderthals who are thick as mince?

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

I'd be intrigued to learn how I and others on here of my demographic are described using your characterisation process?

Let's give him a chance. If he was a 35 year old from Hartlepool called Ralph Meers, all you Brexit dinosaurs would be wanking yourselves silly

Saw a quote from Neil Warnock this morning which summed things up well in regards to looking for strikers:

“We’re looking overseas because I don’t think there’s much around here. There might be the odd one late on in a loan deal over here, but anyone of any substance has gone in terms of what I’m looking for”.

It's a rough market for domestic strikers at the moment, that's why you're seeing the likes of Newcastle put £15m on Gayle's head and Weds wanting £8m for Joao.

I’m quite surprised that no one went for Olivera with this in mind. Strange that a successful championship striker left the country for a low fee when so many clubs in the division are desperate for a second option - see Bristol City, us, Derby, Cardiff, Fulham off the top of my head

I suspect that was partly due to Oliveira not fancying starting again at a 5th team over here.

Or the fact he's got a reputation for having a shitty attitude now days? We see the player but not much of the person and managers talk to one another, he basically fucked himself at Norwich after that goal celebration.

Nelson is a good player but we have the Guedioura thread lit up at the moment with people wanting rid of him for being a dick, why would we want another one?

Happy if he's one of 2 coming in. Gives us something different.

Worried if he's going to be the sole competition for Grabs.

I expect us to spend some top money on a top striker now.

Same. If anything, this demographic has more knowledge on how to find feasable data/stats on unknown players. Having grown up both with and without computers, I know how much easier it is to get this information now.
