    Default The Statistics Thread

As there are a few lovers of the stat on here, I thought I’d start a dedicated thread for discussion of statistics and whatnot around Forest and the championship.

Starting off, OPTA have released this really cool overview of the championship.

    https://www.optasportspro.com/static...on-review.html

    Immediate takeaways for Forest:

Our overall xG is 18th in the form table but Grabban is top 10 individually. So much reliance on him to produce goals but obviously he’s largely taking his chances (apart from penalties lol)
Our overall xGA is also loads worse than I was expecting (pun intended) putting us 16th in the league
Unsurprisingly the style graph has us slap bang in the middle of the quadrants; we switched managers which will skew the stats
5th highest for starting open play movements from the back, middle of the table for the middle third and pretty low for starting on the final third AKA pressing high.

Wonder if any of the new guys can take a corner/free kick?

Interestingly we’ve got the 3rd lowest fouls per game so far in the league. Considering the level of opposition we’ve faced, I think that’s a really positive statement considering the disciplinary problems we had last year

I think generally we have looked very organised so far. Two of the best attacking teams last year facing us and we never really let either create much.

That’s a great stat-spot, and against a couple of very good sides, managing to restrict them to very few chances whilst avoiding the general shithousery of last season is laudable.

Leeds did throw everything at us as well and we did a fairly decent job of keeping them out.

It's the big positive so far, and reassuring that SM has quickly got them so organised.

It only takes a second to score a goal.

    Bostock will sort that out!

It is a good shout tho. As Rav eludes to, I think Mouch's setup will Shepard teams out the game if we can stick to it.

Can people please stop referring to Sabri Lamouchi as „SM“?

It’s giving me acid flashbacks to the reign of Steve McLaren.

Besides, the only SM I‘m interested in at present involves buxom Teutonic Dominatrixes.

We were bottom of the fair play league 2018/19.
It will be interesting to see how we perform this season with SL at the helm throughout.

0.38 xG shows how much of a job we did on Birmingham. I know they’ve struggled for goals but that’s solid defensive work reaping rewards

    WE IN THE RIGHT QUADRANT.

Looks like Preston doesn't give a lot away ahead of the weekends game.

Good point. It also means our current xG is probably lower than our average.

A solid start, especially when you consider who we've played.

Derby's numbers are heavily skewed by penalties.

Interesting table that shows the PPG of the opponents you’ve played versus the PPG of the opponents you’re due to play.

Stokes is absolutely out of whack cos they’ve lost so many games so early on in the season but apart from that it’s interesting.

As always, my favourite Forest blogger provides some really exceptional analysis on Lamouchis system. Well worth a read.
