    Default Lincoln City

As there are a few with a soft spot for the imps, I thought they’re probably due a thread.

Playing a full strength team against local rivals Lincoln United, I see.

Always wondered why they don't list the trialists name, they could just put an asterix next to their name to show on trial.

Giveover. Good to see them back and have something to cheer about.
I’d rather see proper clubs like them do well than the likes of Salford, MK and Forest Green.

Is it something to do with no alerting scouts of other clubs to who is going to be playing?

Yeah, they played two games back to back at the Gainsborough ground. The trialist team vs United then first team against Gainsborough Trinity.

Gate was split between the two non league teams I believe. Nice to see.

Could be, it's annoying from our end though as I want to know who they are

I'm going to give Lincoln my best wishes. Mainly because I liked Graham Taylor and he had a strong affinity with the club.

In that case they should get them to play in balaclavas as well, then no one would know who they were not even their team mates

We would guess that they are James McClean.

Is he in their bomb squad?

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

I went to uni in Lincoln in the '00s and liked their plucky side that just lost out in the play-offs two or three times in a row.

Respect to the late Keith Alexander, one of the nicest guys in football I've come across.

Always has a bit of a soft spot for the Imps going right back to the early 80's when the family first moved down from the North East to Chesterfield.

Lower league football was totally different then and Divisions 3 and 4 were packed with a host of local derbies, with many of them being played over the Christmas and Easter periods ensuring crowds like you never see that far down the football pyramid now.

The likes of Lincoln, Barnsley, Rotherham, Mansfield and occassionally one of the Sheffield clubs would bring huge away followings to Saltergate, 5000+ for proper seat of the pants, no holds barred football.

People were proud of where they came from, there was still community in the area, this all being at the time of the miners strike and what happened on the terraces was as important as what happened on the pitch, yet the teams that entertained us could be found after the match mingling with fans in the club bar sharing a pint or two.

Rough as a badgers arse, but for me the halcyon days of football.

Todays shit show is a very poor substitute.
