    Default [BUPA] Dany Mota Carvalho

According to a Greek reporter, Modesto asked (on your behalf) Juventus for the availability as a loan of Dany Mota Carvalho (21), striker who can also play as a right winger.

Mota, despite his name, is not Portugueuse but from Luxembourg. He has played for a number of Italian teams and was bought last summer from Virtus Entella by Juventus for about 2m €. He has 8 goals and 2 assists for Juve's U23.

Why are we even considering players like these?

Has Modesto learned nothing from Bonatini & Mir, 0 goals in 1 whole year between them?

Exactly... when you are in the top 6 you dont need a gamble, you need a certainty just like the others going for top 6 will do.

Honestly these chaps making these decisions dont seem to learn anything.

From every Mir there's a Cummings (or a McKay, or an Ariyibi, or, God forbid, a Zach Clough). The only difference between the two sets is that set (a) consists of loans with low wages and set (b) consists of buys with overpaid wages.

And please, do not respond with the other Carvalho for the zillionth time; you know as well as I do that the money for Carvalho was not money (only) for Carvalho but also for a wider deal that did not pay off, for whatever reason.

Don't mind taking a chance on young loans but they shouldn't be relied upon solely to fill the gap.

It's also not a right winger we need, it's a left winger (or preferably someone comfortable on either side).

Not the same at all. Clough, Cummings & McKay were purchased for a relegation battling team which finished 21st and couldn't attract more ambitious players, and they were purchased to avoid relegation and develop for the future.

Now we need top 6 players who don't need to be developed. Not ones who'll stop us from going down then might come good in 3 years. Esp when they won't be our players then anyway.

It's a totally different scenario, so we require a totally different type of signing.

    Agreed.

I have no issue at all with going for someone like this lad, and hoping he's the next Diogo Jota type wide forward.

But we also absolutely have to go out and get someone like a Che Adams imo.

    Good grief

    Onwards and downwards.

We're trying to gain promotion from the most competitive League in the world and we're alledgedly looking at a lad playing U23 football in a foreign league

Whoever comes in is a gamble, but there are definitely ways to shorten the odds to our advantage, or there's not. I think we are currently aiming at the latter.

22 goals in over 70 apps doesn't fill me with confidence, especially as he's been playing the majority of his career in seria B.

The Juve kids are a Serie C side. I believe Virtus were in the third tier last season also

Yeah, they got promoted I think then Juve signed him and put him in their u23 team.

Can't say I know anything about him. Obligatory You Tube vids show he seems to be fairly fleet of foot and likes to attack the box.

Transfrmarkt shows that he plays both as a striker and wide right.

Juve u23's aren't having a great season. Only consolation in that is he's scored 7 of their 20 goals in the league (next highest has 3). And he is joint top at their club in assists (with 2).

not going to challenge Modesto considering the other signings he's made. Lets wait and see.

I'll push the boat out and consider Modesto knows what he's doing, as far as windows go the one in the summer (his first) was pretty good, especially in the profile of players signed.

You will ALWAYS get the odd flop but the profile of player was right.
