Hopefully Modesto can help us sign the French right back Piquel Tres.

Mahrez just scored a 95th minute winner to put Algeria through to the final, so we’ll have to wait another week.

It only takes a second to score a goal.

I put a sizeable wager on it at 1-0 after winning on the cricket...easy money

Also on the opposition side is Sada Thioub who we have been linked with a lot recently.

Would not be surprised if his name came up again after the AFCON.

I keep seeing this guys name cropping up in other threads about us signing him. Where does the certainty come from?

Based on a reading of his recent stats, he's struggled to establish himself as a first team player.

It looks as though he's able to play either side but the experience of Swiss Benny should tell us specialists are a better option.

Just a hunch in the most part, alongside the paper talk.

The AFCON will delay a transfer, and the fact we haven't really been linked with any other RB adds fuel to the fire.

He also seemed a favourite of Sabri at Rennes.

Cheers. I hadn't looked him up to be honest and didn't realise he was at Rennes with him.

It makes sense now. Possibly why the club have initially rejected Wigans bid for Darikwa and are waiting until after the AFCON. If that's the case at least we're being sensible and not leaving ourselves short.

If it does happen and Darikwa leaves then it gives us another good experienced RB for Richardson to learn from and importantly a pathway for him to pick up the odd game behind him. This seems to be the way with Adomah and Appiah too. If so I like this blueprint and hope it is a philosophy we are adopting for our best talent in the academy.

Yep agreed, seems sensible doesn't it. If the club see's them as decent prospects for the future they should really give them a pathway to prove that. In the past we've tended to either put about 5 average players in their way or dump them straight into the first team..

Reports we're stepping up our interest in Zaffane, Norwich also interested.
but with them signing Byram I doubt they're interested now.
Seen him play couple times in AFCON for Algeria, Didn't stand out but looked solid enough
Doesn't venture forward much, but that could be down to way Algeria play.
Id still keep Darikwa for cover if we sign him.

Looking at his Transfermarkt, he started about 50% of Rennes' league games under Lamouchi. The rest he was benched or not in the squad.

He's hardly the first name on the teamsheet

Guedioura and Zeffane are going to be wrecked after Algeria's gruelling ACoN.

they'll be given time off to recover and zeffane will have more time to review his options on the table. hopefully geddy can have an influence in him coming to forest.

Didn’t see much of him as an attacker last night as Algeria were on the defensive for most of the game after their early goal. Was quite impressed by his defending, especially as he was up against quality players like Sadie Mane.

Agreed. I thought he looked pretty solid and handled the threat down that side pretty well. I'm a one of Darikwa's fans but I think this lad would be quality competition for him.

You lost a right back, we may lose a right back (Crystal Palace have made a 7m bid for Omar Elabdellaoui), I think Mehdi Zeffane will eventually end up in a Marinakis team (there are reports in the Greek press that we are interested).

Other right backs we have been looking as a replacement for Omar, should the need arise, include Sporting's Bruno Gaspar, bought by Fiorentina for 4.5m but not really making it at Sporting.
