Makes sense when he's right footed he won't have to cut back.

No idea of his capabilities (as with most of the links so far) but having a player who can play lb and rb is a good thing.

Still waiting to see the highlight video which super hans and jez did the soundtrack for. Always disappointed.

Controversial but I hope we ditch Osborn this season. Don't get me wrong he's been an excellent servant of Forest for a few seasons now but he aint up to snuff unfortunately. He's small and doesn't command any area of the pitch. I love him, but I hope for his sake and ours that we move him on.

One thing that can never be levelled at Osborne is lack of effort. He buzzes around for the entirety of every game but so did Jamie Ward.

I agree, we've got to move beyond that now. The likes of Ward, Lichaj and Osborne will pull their twat out for you every game but they are mid table level and that's why we stagnate in this league.

They just knock it over his head down the right channel, I’ve lost count the number of times i’ve Seen him scramble back to make a sliding interception...no wonder yoon is so bloomin fit.

I always felt he had a chance as an AM - but his adaptability pulled him into a position that isn’t his strongest, real shame...a smart championship manager would snap him up and try him as an 8 or 10

Osborn is miles ahead of Ward and Lichaj, the criticism he gets is just not fair, he is hard working and versatile, yet also has quality on the ball. Yes, when hes deployed as an emergency full back, his height can be a liability, but Ben is a very good player, his versatility has hampered him as he has been unable to settle into a single position, but that doesn't mean we should get rid of him

    Love Benny Osborn. Good footballer.

Can't say I've heard of Zeffane prior to his link. That video shows someone with mobility and definitely comfortable on the ball with a desire to get forward which looks promising.

Being able to play RB and LB is obviously handy.

Although not long turned 27, looks to be fairly young in experience. Seems like he was at Lyon a while without breaking through, which is understandable as they're obviously a top team. Just over 100 games in his career to date.

Just for the record, Ben is taller then Inter's left back (top bloke btw), and it doesn't seem to effect him too much.

Roberto Carlos was known for his stature aswell.

Alan Wright was brilliant, even in his mid 30s for us he was classy.

I think Ben's issue at left-back is positioning and reading the game. He seems to get caught out the wrong side of the ball and not reading when an obvious overlap is coming and going with the runner.

When he's LB a lot of dangerous attacks and crosses come from that side.

Can he do a Cruyff turn, run three yards then lose possession like Osborn does though?

In my opinion Osborn should never be put in a defensive role unless in an emergency situation.

I personally think he’s more suited to a free role behind the strikers. He’s able to affect the game well by finding space, slotting balls through, and mistakes are not punished so badly. He’s not a typical central midfielder as he gets out-hustled and struggles with the defensive side and he’s not a natural winger either.

I think that’s his issue actually. He’s so adaptable that nobody, not even himself, knows where he’s best suited. So he fills in all over the shop and gets credit for being reliable, without owning one position.

For me that says good squad player but not one who should be starting games.

I always felt Ben should be trained and dedicated to being a #10. Hes got a bit of a turn of pace over short distances, great positional awareness and can spot a pass.

But he cant beat a man and his goal output is/would most likely be below par for a number 10.

His best position is probably left of a midfield diamond. Bit of cover behind him, bodies in midfield to help him out, players in front to link up with. Its why I thought he was going to go to Stoke, because Nathan Jones plays a diamond, and not many managers do.

For us hes a good footballer who never lets us down. Should definitely be in the squad, even if hes not in the starting eleven.

Im not convinced hes ever been given enough attacking remit consistently to say what his goal output would be if given the opportunity. I like his ability to bring others into play; I think if you dedicated him to the role hed be great at it.

Ben Osborn is all work rate and very little quality a poor mans Milner in my opinion. So I would have him cm as a box to box midfielder.

box to box without the quality. doesn't score enough , doesn't beat players, no pace, no killer passes, can't head, no strength but hey, he can run around like a headless chicken all day.

He's been a constant in the 100's of managers we've had here in the last 5 years.
