    Default Harrison Reed

Post reckon he's on the list as an alternative to Colback. Seem to remember us being linked with him last summer before Colback came back too?

Played 33 times on loan for Blackburn last season, scored 3 and got 6 assists although mostly played right midfield there.

For as good as Colback is and despite the fact it'd clearly weaken us in centre mid: paying him £40k per week is too much, begging for FFP troubles. If he isn't willing to drop his demands soon I hope we move onto someone else.

Reed also had a loan spell at Norwich a couple of seasons ago and their fans rated him as did Blackburn fans last season.

Used to get my trousers from Austin Reed. I wonder if Harrison is a relative?

I agree it’s a lot of money per week, but isn’t he on a free? How much would you pay in transfer fee for a player as good? So if he was on £40k a week on a 2 or 3 year contract it’s either £4m or £6m all in.

Me too, they fitted nicely. Gutted when they closed, but I think Edinburgh Woollen Mill had taken over some of their operations and got a few pairs from them. Might look them up again, could do with some more for work.

Pretty sure Newcastle wanted a million for him didn't they?

That would have been a walk on the wild side.

It's a difficult one for me. On one hand he would be worth it. We all know he's brilliant so this would be different to say, bringing in unproven players (Abdoun, Djebbour) and paying them the same. On the other hand if we start paying him £40k a week then it might not be too long until other players in the squad start wanting the same.

I think if you pay someone in the club way more than the rest - which I assume that would be - then he has to be unquestionably contributing the most otherwise it sows discontent. Colback wouldn’t be. He’s good, so can be paid good. He’s not outstanding, so we shouldn’t pay him outstanding wages.

If we don't secure Colback, a player who has proven he can do the biz week in, week out, we're not really serious about promotion again, and need to give whoever is in charge 2-3 years minimum to build a proper squad.

Blake, Shorey, etc. If a club can't aquire the players who come here & turn it into a better club then it isn't a club that's likely gonna get better by aquiring players alone.

You're probably right. If he was an attacking midfielder/striker who was scoring and creating for fun then it might be ok, but a DM earning twice as much as everyone else just won't sit right with many people.

Have you got rid of the lady with the dancing tongue as an avatar? Or am I thinking of another poster?

I'd had it for going on 10 years now (even though I don't post much nowadays) so thought I was due a change. Apologies.

The only thing you have to calculate for Colbaccio is the number of games per season he is suspended.

As he gets older, this is likely to increase.

    Class player tho.

I only have to think back to the David Vaughn years to convince me Colbacks worth the money. Assuming we're playing on the deck, and we want Carvalho further forward, that DM position is crucial for the transition from back to front. We need Colback,& another whos equally likely to get the ball out consistently.

Colback had to be knocking on the door for POS last season, he's quality in his position, any other player with an issue needs to step up and own his position like Colback does.

One season shoot out, we're gonna have to pay the money.

Redundant really though isn't it? MON hasn't got 2 or 3 years in charge he's got 12 months if he's lucky. Part of the reason I said a while back that I think we've already fucked this promotion push up, if the club arent willing to do a Birmingham and risk the future of the clubs finances on one manager for one season then it was pointless hiring him.

Yes and no. Colbacks shown great consistansy under both Mon & Ak. They're the type of players to go for regardless, as whoever else comes in will matter little, because they're game allows them to adapt

Reed is a useful player, busy and works hard. I thought Blackburn had mainly been using him at right-back though? Heís a centre midfielder by trade.

Iím still hoping we can do something with Colback though. Heís proven himself to be top quality at this level and we know exactly what we are getting.
