Given the daft fucking ideas we see, I'm positive that the fans could actually do worse now and I haven't said that for some years.

I'm easy either way so long as there is harmony & stability. I think we've a damn sight more chance seeing harmony here between MON & the board than with AK, so that's another step forward to me.
Well he spent plenty at Villa didn't he? It's more on the club to make sure he doesn't spend too much though, I'm sure most managers on a one year all out mission will spend as much as they're given. As for the harmony thing I'm not sure, he walked from Villa 5 days before the season started because they wouldn't give him more to spend and he walked from Norwich after 6 months over a signing too.

In relative terms I think the spend was fairly average Tbh. They were a Prem side at the time, that's what Prem clubs gave to pay out.

I think the club connection will count for something tho. Time will tell

I’ve seen people say this before. Surely the club connection should help because he’ll be more popular with fans. Given that he’s got a lot to do to win over a large section of the fan base, how will the club connection help?

I went overboard last season and tipped us for automatic promotion.
That was out of court by Christmas and by mid-January so was top 6.
This season, and without seeing any incoming players I have to go with about the same as 2018-19 season - 7th to 12th.
I think we should have a Christmas Eve update thread to see how the mood changes.
    Missing the football already!

Just don't think he'd walk away from Forest half as easily as he would Norwich

    I do.
If he was that sentimental about the club he'd have managed us by now.

He does what he wants mate, that much has become fairly clear.

Why not? He's used Forest before to get better deals at other clubs. Fine, but sentimentality doesn't come into it as much as you suggest.

Having said that I do believe he's come here to have a one season blast at promotion, so it's unlikely he will want as much control here as he wanted at previous clubs where he was on a longer term contract.

Not sentimentality as such, more familiarity and a chance to finish his career on a high in style with a club he had his prime playing days at.

As I say, time will tell. I'll just be shocked if he walks away from Forest Tbh. Especially, as you point out, with the length of his contract and fact it's prob his last job in mind.

At least we'll start this season with a manager with balls and a backbone

I just hope to see the manager sat in the hot seat for a whole season.

    That would be nice.

17th season before, 9th this season so it's pretty obvious we're going to finish 1st next season.

Give O'Neill the signings he needs and we'll walk the league, simple as.

Will we do that? Probably not, so 12th.

The buzz in the lead up to the summer of Sir Gareth of Southgate's Euro redemption will soften the blow of the failure Forest's Dirk Rändömgermann's divisive high pressing game to lift Forest back into the Championship's top ten after a season of promise, discontent, change and consolidation.

Why would I love it Ray, I want success as much as you do. I'm just yet to be sold on why you are so unstintingly vociferous over martins claims next season whilst your were pretty indifferent over the last guy.

We're not getting anywhere near the league cup mate, nor the top of the league, you've said yourself we need half a new team to even consider it, thats before we consider papering over the cracks.

Martins got to compete with some of the more current managers with parachute money to burn. I dont see a USP that trumps that.

For the record, you'll get all the praise & more from me if it comes off, you aint alf stuck your neck out on this one.
