It’s all scan-and-go nowadays. No registas.

I was going to go but as it was only a few days before the season starts I assumed we'd send an U23 team.

Latest ticket office news says sold out. But then they mumble on about Lincoln selling on the day, so perhaps still a chance.

I couldn’t post after the Olympiacos game so I’ll write some thoughts of the last days (sorry if already mentioned)

The friendly of last Tuesday was the best thing happened to the team so far this summer. The coach had the chance to see the team under pressure against a good opponent, he could check the defense without the ball, in set pieces, under high pressing.
I have the feeling that Lamouchi will figure it out. He seems to have a positive impact on the players and the signs are good, especially after Friday’s game. He says players will come but…

I see a lot of you talking about a new “regista” required. I think it would be a waist, since the team has already many options for this role. No1 Carvalho of course, then Silva can cover and last year there were Lolley and Osborn playing there occasionally.

For the striker, probably someone will come but don’t write off Graban, not just yet. Last season he started late to show his quality. I remember moans about him in August but then, you know…

Now about my second favourite player (after Carvalho) in Forest, believe it or not, it’s Cash!
I believe he can play RB, if he learns how to move tactically in his defensive role, then he has the stamina and the speed to play all right flank. The 3-5-2 would be so great for him but I’m not sure if I’ll ever see it regularly in Forest’s games. Anyway, I can see his overlaps will give an extra option to Lolley.

I don’t know how good Watson against Crystal Palace was but I remember he wasn’t great last year. Well, that means nothing to me because different year, coach, system, players. But what means a lot is that Watson played under every coach so obviously he gives things to the team that I can’t see.
It appears that Colback is not coming back, so I’m curious to see what happens when Yacob comes back from injury and Guedioura back from Egypt.

By the way, in the best XI of the African Cup were included one of Forest and one of Olympiacos (Meriah). Great!

He can play that „Reigsta“ role, as he did for Algeria.

However, it depends on whether he fancies engineering another move, of course.

Not sold on Guedioura playing as the 1 in a 4-1-4-1 type formation. Obviously being able to spread the ball 30/40 yards is important, but I don't see him as someone who plays the 15/20yard balls through the lines.

Perfect time to sell him in my opinion, and invest in someone else.

The movement in front looks a bit more proactive, more interchanging, I think if the 15 yard pass is on then Gueds will make it. I wouldnt condemn him on that, but like the rest in that position, theres huge question marks on their ability to press high & recover if they get done. Also the ability to change the tempo from the base. We're a bit one paced in that position.

We need better legs in the position ideally.

It's more important that the player in the role maintains possession. Guedioura is too wasteful with his passing. Some of the 40 yard balls come off but his hit rate is probably only around 50%. With him in the role we'll just spend most of the time on the back foot.

If he plays he probably has to play in front of this role - his dynamism and ability to carry the ball are better suited to being part of the two. Also allows him his favourite 30 yard shot over the bar every now and again.

But I think he's probably going to get sold anyway.

    Carvalho doesn't play in the Regista role he's a No10 and neither does Silva he's a No8 or No10.

Think you've got the deep lying playmaker (or Regista) mixed up with the number 10 role

I had a Cash Regista once. Can I claim my £5?

Perhaps I haven't quite got into the swing of this terminology or perhaps it's all bollocks.

Do you mean playmaker? Do you mean midfield general? Do you mean attacking midfielder?

It refers to a player who typically positions themselves in between the central midfield and centre defence and uses that space to start the attacking build up. The player may drop in behind the two centre backs at points, especially if they split when the keeper has the ball. The player is also expected to be a decent reader of the game and snuff out on the floor passes to attackers, especially on the counter and typically when the players two more advanced central midfielders in front of him have been caught up the wrong end of the field. But primarily it's a deep creative role.

But it's much easier to say 'Regista'

Centre mid who likes to sit in the middle third and dictate play ala Pirlo or Xavi

But it's much easier to say 'Regista' and it's no different to us saying "A deep lying playmaker" for example just that such a system to include the Regista grew out of Italy. If it grew out of Barnsley it might be called a 'One in t' pit'

    We need more buzzwords.

That should be the LTLF "project"

This gets to the heart of the problems in midfield. Let me put it this way: a player in the middle of the park has four basic passing options. He can lay a short one to an unobstructed teammate; he can thread one between the lines; he can play a long one to feet; or he can play the ball into space, long or short, for someone to run on to.

We've got a clutch of midfielders who can do one, two or three of those things well but lack someone with an all-round range of passing - option two in particular.

Perhaps Carva and Silva - from what I've heard of him - are welcome exceptions.

Both player further forward than where Lamouchi wants his primary playmaker though.

I'm sort of surprised we're not playing a 4-2-3-1 with Silva and Carvalho interchanging and El Bastardo just anchoring the midfield. That would seem to be the most logical way forward if wanting to play the sort of game we're going to play rather than relying on Ben Watson to be the new Pirlo and Semedo to actually be a good box-to-box option.

Geddy wasn't good enough for a promotion push when AK signed him as anything other than a bit part player, never mind now.

He's backup at best and the defensive midfield options need to be better than he is now. Significantly.
