Not sure he’s the regista type we need though.
Big, strong, mobile, good in the air, carries the ball well, his stats for forward/progressive passes were good last season (albeit in L1) as well.

Whilst Pirlo would be nice, if we are playing Carvalho & Tiago in a midfield 3 next season then the other bloke needs to be a seriously good defensive presence.

I read that their owner is cutting their spending budget to within their reduced income, as opposed to investing to get back into the Champions league.

He’s generally treated the club as a financial investment all along from what I gather, and they’re strapped for cash for signings, so it could be a part of that. Emery wants to refashion the squad to his style, so have a bit of a clear out and raise some cash.

The irony of Nixon linking us, Brentford and Reading to Bostock.

Back in the day, he actively told people if you see a player linked with 3 teams, ignore it as it is usually an agent trying to drum up interest in a player.

The deadline for Championship Clubs for all incoming permanent and loan registrations is apparently 5pm on Thursday 8 August, 2019.

League One and League Two Clubs have until 5pm on Monday 2 September, 2019 (due to August 31 falling on a Saturday).

This is supposed to bring the Championship more in line with the Premier League.

Every time I go onto SSN they have that clock thing telling us how long the window has until it slams shut. I never notice how long there is left. Am I a failure?

According to the Post, the links to Callum O'Dowda have cooled in the wake on MoN's departure, which is not surprising.

I doubt he'll do much with his career. Adomah is where it's at.

I rate O'Dowda and reckon he'd be a great signing but the quoted £8m is very steep.

The second MON left the deal became a long shot and this is more likely the agent trying to drum up interest or the Post continuing their form for stating the obvious

I could see the Simpson one if Lamouchi feels a RB is necessary. I thought it would be a key target, but seems like Cash has won himself some favour at RB. Hopefully he takes the opportunity.

Couldn't imagine Carroll fitting though, financially or systematically. Would imagine a prem team will chuck him 30/40/50k pw.

Really intrigued to see what remaining business we do.

I feel a CDM/Playmaker/Regista or whatever people want to call it is a necessity, as is x1 striker.

Not sure I would particularly want Simpson though if we did add a right-back. Is that me being too picky ? Simpson is 32 and another who hasn't been playing much football. Just been told to get on his bike at Celtic where he was on trial.

I see WBA are signing Darnell Furlong from QPR who in turn are getting Dujon Sterling on loan from Chelsea (typical Warburton full-back).

Woodgate is converting Jonny Howson into their RB. Not sure on that like I think Cash can be. So not exactly sure what sort of team Woodgate is going to put together up there.

I just think if we're going to back Cash, I could see the other option end up being someone more experienced to support him.

I was thinking Darikwa is here. But if a good bid comes in for Darikwa and we give Simpson a 1-year deal fair enough.

Matty Cash would be perfect for the Regista role.

No one would get any change out of Cash Regista

Can't see us signing Simpson, and Carroll would demand far too much money. Don't think either would be a good fit here anyway.

Hopefully we can get some business done this week. Less than 2 weeks until the season starts and we still look pretty weak in a number of areas as things stand.

Have we been linked with Simpson / Caroll?
