Do you ever use Discogs? Found some good bargains on there over the years.
Aye same here for my daughter. She buys her 50s vinyl from gigs and record fairs etc. She gets her 70s and 80s stuff off Ebay and Charity shops.
When I was a teenager I used to love riding home on the bus with a brand new LP in my hands, studying the artwork and small print too. But best of all, looking at the lyrics on the inner sleeve.
I don’t tend to go to record fairs really. Went to one at the Plessies Club (Pessy club? I can’t remember now) in Beeston which was pretty good. I don’t think it stands these days, it was near the train station.
Went to the VIP ones a couple of times but they weren’t great.
During my first job at 17 every other Friday we finished work at 12.30pm, I'd get the bus into Nottingham, have a few pints in The Fountain then off to select-a-disc, Way Ahead and Arcade Records.
Go back home on the bus with a bag full of vinyl and couldn't wait to play it.
The wait made it more exciting.
I remember my mate's brother coming back from Rob's Records with a bag full of rock n roll records when we were young 'uns. The hi-fi was at the end of the living room just in front of the curtained doors to the sun room (they were proper posh). He was admiring his new lp's and singing Jailhouse Rock thinking that he was in the house alone. We accidently hid behind the curtains and jumped out on him just as he reached the hi-fi, records in the air and he ran out of the house screaming like a virgin. We were absolutely pissing ourselves until he came back in and found that a couple of the records were damaged.
We got battered!
Bored today, feel free to roast my collection:

„The revolution will inevitably awaken in the British working class the deepest passions which have been diverted along artificial channels with the aid of football.“
I keep browsing second hand turntables, christ, there's some proper garbage on eBay under the guise of 'vintage'. But I don't have the money for stuff like Linn, B&O, Rega or even the decent Technics stuff.
Called in the Vinyl Lounge in Mansfield today upon Sam's recommendation.
A good selection in there, especially new stuff. The prices aren't the best but then, I'm a tyre kicker that remembers picking up albums for well under a tenner.
Well worth a visit if you are down there.
People who run it are really friendly as well.
A complete Arctic Monkeys vinyl collection.
As I've posted elsewhere I have EVERY Neil Young album on vinyl and everything by The Who even their singles.
