    Default [BUPA] Ryan Tafazolli

    27 Year old, 6ft 5in, Iranian-English centre-back.

Currently playing very well for Peterborough United. (Ex-Mansfield Town)

A little bird tells me we have made an inquiry, but nothing more concrete than that.

I think Posh fans love him and are desperate to keep him, but I think he might be reluctant to sign a new deal.

Won't turn my nose up at a 6'5 CB if he can move a bit too.

We are in need of a big, towering centre half. Can't say I know much about him though. If he doesn't want to sign a new contract at Posh then it's probably an easy deal to do if we wanted him.

Looks left footed from the few clips of him and surely worth a few goals from corners per season despite how shit we are from them

That would rely on someone actually being able to land it near his head and not hitting the first man every time..We could have land of the giants in the box and not benefit from it at the moment.

    He is, indeed, left-footed.

How much do you reckon he'd cost Congo?

Even if it's a big step up we're fairly desperate.

Plenty have made the step before. Ryan Bennett has never looked back from a similar progress.

He's obviously got the size. Just a case of him having enough mobility to not be vulnerable, and be able to make simple passes side-to-side.

Posh do usually like players who are relatively comfortable on the ball.

We hugely lack someone who can be dominant in both boxes though.

Look at Pontus Jansson. Ignoring the fact he is a complete and utter bellend, he wins a hell of a lot of battles even though he is a pretty limited footballer.

Edit: RE: Cost. He is out of contract in the summer and has not signed a new one. Normally Posh transfer list them in this scenario, but they hoped to convince him. So due to him being very important to them, he wont be cheap as chips, but he wont be mega bucks either. You've got to think something reasonable would be no more than 500k.

Generally, if a player regularly stands out for a top six League One club then there's a fairly good chance that they can make the step up to the Championship.

27 is a decent age too, the bloke is probably just about to hit his prime.

Another for wild speculation. Matt Clarke at Pompey is someone I could see growing into a very good CB who could progress through the leagues.

    Yeah,

Few bits from looking at the stats side of things.
Comparing to our 5 CB (excluding Yacob for obvious reasons).

Hes played in 37 matches this season, and averages a full game in each one (with the exception of his single sending off). Only Robinson has played over 25 games for us, and most of those have been at Left Back.

Good in the air, with 13 Aerial Duels per 90 (compared to the nearest Forest CB, with 9, which is Figueiredo), good at reading the game, with 7 interceptions per 90 (Figueiredo and Dawson rank higher, which is obvious, as thats when our defence was doing well), 4 yellows and 1 red this season. He also doesn't make a great amount of passes in comparison to our centre halves, but, with a difference of playing styles between Evans and what we have played this season, I'm not minded with that.

He does seem to make more fouls per 90 minutes, but, at the same time, is a lot bigger in height than any of our current Centre backs, so in a division that is seen to be slightly more physically minded, he will be a target for opposing big forwards.

Sounds like just what we need really. Hopefully there's some substance in this rumour then.

FYI Pontus Jansson, statistically speaking, is one of the best ball player center halves in the division. He’s 100% not limited as a footballer.

    True.

    He’s a massive bell-end, though.

A guy named Ryan Tafazolli, who's 1,96, looks and poses like a model, and is half-Iranian.

Where do you find these targets, it's like characters out of Pulp Fiction.

    6 foot 5 - he certainly meets MON’s criteria for centre-halves
