We did buy him from another Division One club however, a couple of seasons after they recruited him from Wealdstone.

I Know its not Forest but over the years there have been some decent centre forwards come from Non League, Ian Wright, Jamie Vardy, Lee Gregory
Another Ex forest in premier league Michail Antonio was non league before he went to Sheff Weds

gareth mccleary was from non league , by the time he came good, as per usual at that time , he was let go for free to reading where he's been for the last 8 years.

Watching him in the FA Cup game at the moment, he's a handful for the Burnley centre halves (despite Peterborough getting hammered). Bloke doing the comms reckons Peterborough have said they want £11m for him if anyone wants him in Jan.

He would have been a quality signing IMO.

I'm not sure either are the signings to make in Jan where you're aiming for top 4/6 to be honest. Eisa played for Bristol City last season and made zero impact. Toney looks more like he'd be a handy option but it'd be a risk, especially at the price quoted. Last summer would've been the time to snatch him although apparently they rejected £4m in the summer for him as well.

And where exactly would Grabban fit in alongside those two and your earlier preference on another thread Emmo, Assombalonga?

Yeah agreed, hence the "would". Last Jan when I posted the suggestion would have been fine too. Nice bit of time to bed in & get up to champ speed.

Cardiff bid 4m in the Summer, which they did reject, but when I posted he wasn't fetching that type of attention.

It's actually a big shame that we didn't organize some sort of permanent swap+fee deal with Cummings when he went to them in Summer 18.

Would have been difficult as Cummings signed for Peterborough a month before Toney did.

I’d have Britt first but I’d happily have eisa and Toney. Britt would sit on the bench initially but rotated. However I do take you point, we need a stellar winger and inside forward.

My oxford united supporting mate reckons Toney would boss this league

Says £6m should be enough to tip then scale in his opinion

6m? I'd be very tempted for that. Kids only 23, still several years before he's in his prime.

I've liked Toney for a while and I think he'd be a great addition.

Wont be happening though, Posh want daft money and it'll take a total deal worth well over £6m to get him.

Not saying he's as good as Britt, but he's much more rounded than both Britt and Marriott.

    We won't be buying him.

Tipping the scales slightly in our favour - Posh have a young striker, Ricky Jade-Jones, who has just emerged from their youth setup and made an instant impact on the first team, including scoring against Burnley. Ferguson is high on him, the club owner is high on him and they need a youngster to break through big in order to justify their new approach to developing talent in house. Could actually make Toney more attainable than he was a couple of months ago.

Has there even been any speculation linking us to this bloke, or is it just wishful thinking?

Very wishful thinking, although I'd heard whispers a while back that we had looked at him.

Preston were rumoured to be lining up a 7m bid for him, but I think that's too rich for their blood tbh.

I'd like to see us have a blast with a 5m + add ons bid. He could play alongside Grabban when needed this season, cover too, then grow into replacing him over the next season or two too.

I'm hearing he's likely to be a Burnley player before the transfer window shuts.

Just seen Birmingham & Charlton are both rumoured to be in for Toney

If they can afford him, surely we can? The kid just has that special something. Yeah he's got to step it up another level, but with what Mouch has done with our other young crop if anyone can get the best from him he can.

23 years old too, so a real investment. Absolutely love his arrogance & fearlessness.

They can't afford him. Especially Birmingham, who are in deep shit again financially by the looks of things.
