He signed for Stoke last July for £5mio initial fee possibly rising to £6mio with add-ons. Stoke will have to take a loss but it wouldnít be cheap would it? 😦

    We need a winger, he's a winger.

Can understand folk not liking the political stuff, but that goes out the window come kick off.

Actually popped into my head the other day MoN would try and sign him.

Not actually sure if he’s good or not. Some times too easily caught up in drama to just do his job and do what he is good at consistently.

Having said all that I donít rate him as a player and I wouldnít have him at Forest for football reasons.
He quoted Bobby f*cking Sands, a PIRE terrorist at Stoke fans giving him stick. Before also calling them c*nts and Neanderthals.

If you're not a IRA supporter, maybe don't quote them at those criticising you?

Keep the bellend away from this club. He doesn't deserve to pull on the Garibaldi.

I have a feeling we'll see young Arvin shine in the coming months.

Not too much though. Those pesky Germans are already sniffing.

Do we know the political views of the other players? Do we know what they think about gay rights or Brexit? Does it matter?

No because they keep it to themselves. McLean however likes to make his views known

Well that doesn't make him any better or worse than the others does it? At least he has the courage of his convictions. Has he been convicted??
I'm not getting into the politics of it all it just seems a bit much when for all we know other players may have equally bad views on subjects we can only guess at.

Apparently I always have to have a reason for disliking somebody.

Well, actually I don't McClean; I don't know why, just doesn't float my boat. Lots of footballers around. Please find ones I like Martin.

The guy earns a fortune in England but has no respect for the people who give their lives for this country. Not somebody I want to support. I take your point and its a possibility that other players may have equally abhorrent views and if that was the case then I would feel just as strongly about those individuals. Football is for me, a release, and is meant to be a an enjoyable event. By bringing personal beliefs into the equation the player has, in my view, put himself in the firing line for anybody with opposing views.

He doesn’t, he didn’t want to wear a poppy for his own reasons. It was the media that blow it all out of proportion. Didn’t think it’s mandatory to wear it, If you know your history on Northern Ireland you’d understand. You mentioned earlier it was about respect, that goes both ways I’d say.

Haven't we already got a James McClean thread where this him not wearing a poppy was given 700 pages before the Stoke match? A merge will save everybody doing it all over again.

Appiah wasting his time getting battered against Man City. Should be in first team squad to encourage him to sign a new contract. Instead we seem to be about to sign a winger in McLean of dubious character whose career is on it's way out without ever giving Arvin a chance. Arvin seemed to have 5 minutes against Burton, scored and never seen again.

Yeah I see where you're coming from, I suppose it's up to him isn't it. He's laid his cards on the table and gets dogs' abuse for it for certain fans. Again, i'm not going to pretend to know why he's taken the stance he has, I'm not from those parts so it's impossible for me to know.
But i won't boo him should he be brought to the club and would like to think the majority would let him get on with his job too.

I do understand his reasons and whilst I don't respect them, I do respect his right to have those views. Just not somebody I personally want to clap on a Saturday

True, but that's why I follow football, as an escapism from all those things.

I'm not happy about it, but I can rise above that to just enjoy the games.

Could see us going for a 3-4-1-2 with him in the team sooner or later if he signs.
McLean,Yacob, Colback, Lolley across the 4 with Carvalho behind Grabban and Murphy would be decent for me.
Getting 3 CB's fit enough to play would be the first problem to overcome.
