Don't think Happy Clappers is the answer, but who knows?

Whoever we sign has got to be right or doldrums continues.

Can't understand why we wouldn't sooner give Walker a chance?

Seems bizare that we'd pay for a 22 year old playing his football in the lower leagues in France, & who's got to adapt to the British game, ahead of a free 22 year old who has already scored 30+ goals in it the past 2 seasons in the lower British leagues

As for the player himself: in the summer he was certainly not ready to play at our level, let alone fight for a promotion push for the Premier. I doubt he improved so much in a couple of months.

I just hope if we are after him it's with a view to the long term in 2-3 years, and that we have more ready-now players lined up to come in as well..

Jarrod Bowen, O'Dowda, Grosicki etc. - all out of contract this summer. Surely a few quid to get one or two here earlier would make more sense?

Cuypers, would be truly stellar if he's the guy with the belt.

Maybe we don't have the option to recall mid season?

But why send him out in the first place then?

If the plan is to use a 22 year old lower league player as backup for Grabs, why didn't we do that with someone who costs £0 and has already proven he can score in this league? Not to mention someone who'll inspire the more romantic fans?

If memory serves, the club was looking for a striker in the last days of the transfer window. So they were obviously looking for someone better than Walker. They just didn't make it. It happens.

So why aren't they now aiming for better, instead of what looks to be a direct Walker replacement? (if even that good)

Also, foolish to send someone out first before getting someone in too. Esp when it's not bought a fee in. Folk may think this is nitpicking, but these are the key things which make the difference between nearly-men & winners.

Why are you taking for granted that there is actual interest for Cuypers (let alone that it's a done deal)? Because the Post copied and pasted an article in an unreliable Greek site? I remind you that this is the second Hugo Cuypers thread in this forum: http://www.forestforum.co.uk/showthr...hlight=Kuypers.

It was a "done deal" last January too.

Because it's international break and I'm itching to debate something

But yep, you're right. Hopefully it's just the usual NEP BS.

Same way the language Hitler in me is itching to point out once again the importance of spelling; had the player's name been spelt correctly in the old thread, there would not have been a new one, so perhaps no discussion either.

    Proper spelling, a game changer.

Hull have the option of an extra year on Bowen's contract, so he is effectively under contract until 2021:

It would most likely cost north of £15m to sign Bowen, and I doubt Bristol City would want to strengthen a promotion rival, so we can rule those two out. Grosicki would be a good addition though.

Grosiki also has a clause to have an extension if Hull want to trigger it. But it's a month since the report below was published so possibly they are unable to afford him. 27 grand a week apparently.

Bowen's still got to sign though chap. As it says "Whether Bowen is willing to put pen to paper on a new contract with City remains to be seen."

That's where we should be a more attractive prospect, and not be stuck in the Mark Arthur days of "we couldn't get him because mighty Bristol City are just too glorious a team to say no to compared o us"

If we're truly at the start of a new dawn and building a Prem club, let's start, sorry keep, showing it

Bowen doesn't need to sign the new contract for the club to trigger the year extra extension. He's effectively under contract until 2021, thus out of our price range.

Bristol City aren't going to to sell O'Dowda to a promotion rival unless stupid money is on the table. Again, not something we are at all likely to do.

Either player signing for Forest in January is about as likely as Newcastle winning the Premier League this season. It just isn't happening.

I don't think the players we need are going to come from any of the players which are currently quoted.

Our new team are patiently working away in the background bringing in some players we have never heard of. But who will just eat up this league.

Players like Muric, Semedo, Mir, Jenks, etc? Whilst I agree with the first part, they're gonna have to up they're game to achieve the second part.

We have made some good signings, but we've also missed as much as we have hit, and I'd say only 2 or 3 or the 12 players signed are first team certs, and the core of our success has been built on academy players & proven Championship players.

We should be looking at on-form players from other Champ clubs to go for in Jan so they can slide straight in and continue to smash it home IMO. Is it gonna cost? Yes. But so does success.
