You'll most certainly not be anywhere near Premier League with a new manager every January.

    Not what I'm pining for.

I just don't think the individual players quoted above can make the step up if we ever get there.

We'd be at the same quality level as Cardiff or Huddersfield if we went up and didn't change our squad at all.
Seems to me the only one that could have dropped off the list would be Darikwa.

I don't think anybody is claiming we would be better than Cardiff or Huddersfield without any investment. That would be about where we would be with our current squad, probably lower to be honest.

    I‘m pining for the Fjords.

I'd keep the Unicorn, the Easter Bunny and Big Foot. About as much chance of them being on the playing staff as us getting promotion any time soon.

I still think Carvalho, Yacob and Lolley are our only players good enough for the Premier League.

    Not convinced.

Looks good at this level but not tested against teams who are really slick. Only Leeds are half-slick at this level and whilst he played well we couldn't get a foothold in the game until they had a man sent off. (Yes, I do realise Colback scored and we were winning. )

But even if you add Colback that's still four from a squad if twenty five?

Unsurprising really, given the consolidation of quality in the division above, and the stockpiling of young players by the top clubs.

If you get to the promised land this season, the club will be tempted to use the tons of money available for buying a shitload of players. I'm not sure this is a good idea, because the goal in your first Premier season will be to stay there and to achieve this goal the consistency that comes from a squad of players who know one another will be vital.

Samba, Cash, Ribeiro, Worrall, Figueiredo, Chema, Sow, Silva, Carvalho, Lolley (or, at least, last year's Lolley), Ameobi, Grabban, are all players who have a place (either as starters or as squad players) in a Premier squad. You'll probably have to let Dawson and Watson go, because of their age, but I don't think you need too many players. A couple of full backs, a couple of midfielders, two wingers, one or two strikers.

Thought this must be a thread for getting ahead of ourselves after a good away win last night. But I see it's already a year old. In twenty years this thread could be better than the Pineapple one.

Promoted is the one when teams move up a level.

    Agreed.

I'd do pretty much what Sheff U did tbh. Keep the core of the side together, lose players who we currently consider deadwood (Bridcutt, Clough etc.) and add a handful of quality ones.

Wouldn't let Daws & Watson go, but would be looking to bring in genuine potential replacements because of their age as you say. Hef will prob leave anyway, so we should be after a CB regardless.

Big shame Walker's not here currently. Think this season could have played a big part getting Mouch to improve him, and also integrate him into the team spirit. No kids gonna grumble at being a backup player in the Prem for 1 season aged 23, and he'd have been perfect for that role given this season in the Champ to prepare. Who knows, he might still be yet.
