Default Match Day Pubs/ Food and Drink

Apologies as I'm sure there is already a thread on this and this may not be in the right place.

I live in Leeds and usually only manage to get to a few home games a season. Whenever I'm down in Nottingham I always seem to struggle to find a good pub that does food and end up resorting to Wetherspoons. I was wondering if I could get some recommendations for some decent boozers that also do food on match days and don't tend to get crazy busy. I'll be getting the train down so ideally something in the city centre fairly close to the station or maybe in West Bridgford near the ground if there are good places down there would be best. Thanks in advance.

Most of the pubs near the ground get busy on matchdays, simply because there aren’t that many in the area.

Trent Bridge Inn, Southbank, Navigation, Larwood & Voce will all be heaving.

The Stratford Haven in West Bridgford is a good choice but again will get busy.

If you want City Center you’ve more choice but you’ve then got the walk to the ground to consider.

Yes they do, but ive never had it.

Depending on what you want id always recommend Annies burger Shack does good food and has beer, not a traditional match day "boozer" but itvis really good.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Much appreciated! I think I might give Poppy & Pint or Stratford Haven a go if I get down early enough.

Done this, sat on the park benches over looking the Trent at County Hall. Put ya hat down, for some reason people pass by and give you money to get more cans

Stratford Haven gets very busy, if you're not there at least an hour and a half before kick off you won't get a table.

You have two good suggestions in Vat n Fiddle and Poppy n Pint already. Vat n Fiddle is a twenty minute walk from the ground still though remember.

You could also look at the Test Match (twenty minutes walk) or any number of the upmarket bars on Bridgford Rd which get taken over by football fans on match day. Botanist certainly does food, 44 and the Parlour might too.

Van and Fiddle looks a good shout actually. Reckon we'll give that a go.

Thanks again for all the advice and fingers crossed for 3 points on Saturday!

Like all Castle Rock pubs, yes.

If the OP is happy with something from the bar though, it does a good choice in cobs as well as hot food.

Yes you are right Otis. Just walked past there on my way to the station. Sunny Mablethorpe bound.
