Default Film Remakes That Are Better Than the Original

I'll start with a couple of 80s horror films:

    The Thing (1982)
    The Blob (1988)

Now, you see, I prefer the original version of The Blob from 1958, with Steve McQueen and possibly the greatest theme tune ever (Google it, Other Search Engines are available).

However The Fly (1986) with Jeff Goldblum is better than the Vincent Price original (195.

Yeah the David Cronenberg version of the Fly vastly superior

I'd put the recent remake of Stephen King's IT up there as well

The Thing was the first film that came to my mind, and great shout with the new version of IT too.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels & Scarface would be my shouts.

“All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.”

No way the remake entirely loses the essence of the story.

I think you get pulled in because of the CGI stuff the actual film deviates so for from the character of the original story that it should have a different title. The original was no great shakes but it did have Tim Curry.

Tim Curry was mint, but I just thought the remake was a good film & more interesting/exciting than the original. Some of the kids had way more character.

The Geordie prefers the modern re-makes of King Kong, and Godzilla too. Myself I prefer the original versions.

Also we are both are big fans of 1950s sci-fi and B-movies. "It Came from Outer Space" and "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers" were two of my favourites. Both had inferior re-makes.

Technically the original was a TV miniseries not a film.
However the main part of the story in the book and the first film is about the constant juxtaposition between the child and adult versions of the characters and without that it becomes a fairly ordinary story.
I suspect the story has been deliberately simplified for modern audiences.

I can't think of any remakes that are better than the original.

    SCARFACE
    HEAT
    SCENT OF A WOMAN
    THE MERCHANT OF VENICE
    INSOMNIA

All Al Pacino films that are better than the originals. I'd even throw in there Dick Tracy but I have seen many other DT films.
