It's a fair point, I think EM and the hierarchy will hit upon a working solution with this which strikes a balance with players actually making a footballing impact and those that are purely a financial vehicle for the club.

I think they are learning what works and which of those two have the biggest short, medium and long term benefits to the club. It might well take another couple of seasons to find that magic blend but I believe it's certainly an avenue we should persevere with.

Whilst he was an awful signing for a promotion push, his time here this year may have at least given him the experience needed to play a part next year.

I'm easy either way what happens to him. But in no way should we kid ourselves that we don't need more quality up front even if he does stay.

I can live with the odd one. But burdoning the management team with tons of flakes again will only hurt us again too

Linked with Besiktas and Hamburg now.

Bit of a travesty he didn't get a fair go, particularly in Grabban's absence, because he is a good footballer who moves intelligently. I'd 100% keep him.

Grabban, Karim and Ivan Toney would be a great 3 imo.

But suspect he fancies the move after not being given a go here. Hopefully will bring in a 7 figure sum.

Won't lose any sleep over losing him. Toney would still be a nice signing.

Aris have agreed terms with another ex-striker of ours (Brown Ideye), so they will not pursue Karim anymore.

Still think he has something to offer here, though obviously not as a main striker. He's got good movement, decent awareness and touch and isn't a bad finisher. Much, much better option than Murphy anyway. As someone else said though, if he does stay, it doesn't meant that we don't have to get another striker in because we definitely do.

I don't know where he'll end up, but for the time being he's taking care of other people's business: he's trying to convince his old team in Iran (Persepolis, the biggest club in the country) to hire an ex-manager of ours, while trying to convince Persepolis' goalkeeper (and international player) to come to us.

Shh, you’ll blow Special Agent Smith’s cover.

MI6 spent years convincing the Iranians he’s a footballer.

Like him and reckon he has a lot to offer especially how he finished at the end of the season. As we don’t appear to be doing much in the transfer market why get rid of him as we will only be left with Karim, Grabban, Walker and Murphey

If we get rid of him we'll be left with him?

Thought he did really well today. Turned well with the ball, laid it off quickly and intelligently. Looked eager to impress. Tidy finish for his goal.

He was our best striker today by a long way.

I hope he can continue to impress in pre season.

Very hit & miss today. On the Plus side he scored & won the ball out wide very well.

On the flip side he lost possession a fair bit cheaply, and displayed his trademark petulance over a nothing incident in front of the ref.

Worth persisting with, but I hope Lamouchi can refine him a bit
