Thanks for reminding me how old I am......have to agree with all those present on that day in March 1974....I have hated NUFC ever since attending that game (the FA too) !! Have had several victories over them since and I've enjoyed every single one. Will take this day to the grave with me.....lest we forget !

28th September 1752. Lost 0-1 to a 89th min own goal by a pit pony drafted in as an emergency centre-back.

I wasn't there but family story has it that Great, Great, Great Grandad kicked the cr*p out of his dog. The pit pony went on to play for Juventus, winning much acclaim before finally being eaten.

Or, in other words rocka', I'm not sure.

League - March 10th, 1999. lost 2-1. Dougie Freedman scored for Forest in what would be Steve Stones last match for us, Alan Shearer and Dietmar Hamann scored for them.

Cup - 20th September, 2011. lost 4-3 after extra time. Findley, Derbyshire and Tudgay for us, Lovenkrands (2), Danny Simpson, and Sideshow Bob for them. The only time they've beaten us at the City Ground in a cup competition.

Before that, the last defeat at the City Ground - February 8th 1986, Colin Walsh for us, and the Hunchback of Peter Beardsley for them twice.

Robbie Findley, Matt Derbyshire and Marucs Tudgay. What a deadly trio.

Which is along the basis on which we signed them in the first place, the 'Bargain Bucket' being empty at the time.

From all those stats we are obviously having payback for the injustice of '74. Not that that makes it any easier to bear, the b******s.

Deadly trio? if they were illnesses they'd be a slight itch, a tickley cough and a runny nose.

Enough to keep Derbyshire out for the season.

The police were USELESS that day. We spent quite a bit of the second half dodging concrete pieces thrown quite openly by the Newcastle scum. I thought the Gallowgate End was their end and we were at the other end.
    We took 12,500 that day.

Their end back then was the Leazes End. If I remember right soon after that game the roof got condemned and it got closed, so they moved them to the gallowgate end. The Leazes End was then a reduced terrace that away fans stood on during the 80's.

From what I've read anyway, I wasn't there that day, I was probably in a pram being pushed around town
