I find it very difficult to get interested in goalkeeper transfers. You could stick anyone in there except Henderson and itís ok with me. Unless it was a 1978-80 Shilton I donít care.

Nicholas Randall, please donít ever change, you magnificent bastard.

It's incredibly refreshing to see NFFC not fucking about these days.

Dave Beasant was 37 or 38 when we signed him so I'm never worried about a goalkeeper's age. They usually mature later and we've got a number 1 who's 31 and a backup who's 33. That gives me confidence, actually.

Also, no offence to either, but I'd rather have Luke Steele as backup than Henderson or Evtimov.

I wouldn't send Smith on loan as it looks like Kapino will be sold today. Then let Smith learn from/challenge Steele for the backup position in League Cup games.

If it allows other keepers to go out on loan and get matches under their belt, I think it a very good deal.

As an aside, I like that keeper jersey Luke is wearing in the photo. Very neat, not the usual hodge podge of colours and design.

Kapino has gone to Werder Bremen, so it looks like Pantiilimon, Steele and Smith are our three goalies.

The general running of the club, on and off the pitch this summer has been seriously impressive. You can’t help but get caught up in the wave of optimism

    Hats off to all involved.

Selling a keeper for good profit and bringing in a good pro like Steele to back up Pantillimon is the latest in quality business deals and will allow us to send Smith out to get 1st team football

Is that colour a bit too close to the outfield kit? Don't they have to be distinct?

If the team play as well as the management performance we'll storm the league. Loving the way business is quietly getting done with the minimum of drama and profitably.

Steele was a model professional at Panathinaikos, never created any problems and was much loved by the fans despite his several bloopers in his first year here (like I said he improved a lot afterwards).

Karanka said that he only wants to hire players who want to work for Forest; an equally essential aspect of recruitment is solid, no fuss, likeable characters, who make life in the dressing room easy for others.

Steele will probably end his career at Forest, without any rancour for being no. 2.

Spot on. It is vital to have the right type of characters all wanting to achieve the same thing, and equally happy to be part of an exciting project.

Whether it's the guy carrying the balls out for training, or the one scoring all the goals.

Karanka knows what he's doing on that front and how important it is to overall team spirit/morale, which is why I feel very content right now.

Off the pitch, I believe Steele is involved in coaching youngsters around the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire area (http://www.youthdreamsproject.co.uk/about-ydp/). It almost seems like people at Forest are doing due diligence into a players personality and the like

He has a young child and he stated in his interview how important was for him to settle down near his homeland.
