Default Where will we finish in May 2019?

The recruitment of new players has accelerated.
Club has broken its own transfer fee paid record for a single player.
Still more to come: goalkeeper for certain.
Maybe right and left backs - or are we going to major on 3-5-2 seeing as we have purchased and developed some decent wingers who hopefully can fill those wing-back positions.
So, where do members think we will finish the coming season?
I am not asking for opinions as to what Marinakis expects; I would like to see what your thoughts are.
My Bluenose friend and I have a friendly competition where we predict each match score for our respective teams - before the season kicks off.
I have Forest in 2nd spot with 92 points, and Brum in 12th with 60 points.
I do feel that my first stab is really optimistic for the Reds.
There are a lot of tough teams in the championship; it is highly competitive, and while I may have to revisit my first run of predictions for the season, I personally feel top 6 is on the cards.
    What say you?

As things stand with the squad as of today, probably between 14th to 18th.

Still at least 5 players away from being a top 6 side (GK, RB, LB, DM and a quality striker).

    Top 10 I think.

Once you're in that bracket, it's anyone's game.

Like you, I thought we needed 2 full-backs, but on reflection we have the makings of a decent 3-5-2 .
The back 3 of Worrall, Figuerido and Dawson, with Fox and Manciennes as back up (assuming Mancienne stays with us) looks/feels solid.
Worrall has another season under his belt and I reckon he will develop into a Forest legend, assuming he stays.
The wingers we have brought in have to be able to fit into the wing-back sort of approach and maybe the traditional full-back role is disappearing.

We might not reach the automatic promotion places, but we'll be in the top one.

This is what I think too. Presuming we sign Robinson, Byram and say, Pantilimon, as well as one of the strikers we’ve been linked with, I reckon we’ll have enough to be top ten next year.

Whether we do any better will depend on how quickly the new signings gel and how good the foreign lads are.

I fully expect our goals against column to be much better this season though, once Karanka gets his men playing his way. That will be enough alone to move us up the league a fair bit.

Let’s be honest any success we do have next year will be down to a striker that can put the ball in the net and sorting out set pieces. If we don’t address either of those things we won’t realistically be challenging.

After last season I'm sure they'll be addressed. I'm going for an auto finish, the beast is finally awake and it's hungry.

I'm in full "getting carried away" mode now, come the first couple of weeks of August, I'm sure the optimism will be all gone

Sure to be better than the last two seasons. Possible playoffs if all goes according to plan.

Anyway, I'm keeping the end of May clear just in case.

This all over. Folk are excited at how much we've spent, not at the actual squad itself which, at this moment in time, is still sorely lacking.

Thankfully there's still 1 month to address this, 2 at a push.

We're still a lower Champ side at the mo.

I expect a slow start but hopefully we will start our unbeaten run for the rest of the season by mid-August.
I see a draw at Brizzle on the opening day, and a draw to WBA in our first home game...then a win v Reading, but a defeat at Wigan.
So not the best start, but not bad.

Don't think so Alf. We have got one player who can score goals and several who can dominate midfield. Two more signings and that'll be enough. To challenge.

Full back is still a major issue at the moment. If we sign Byram and Fabio/Robinson that may change, but with our current full back options any team with a half decent winger will tear us to shreds. Still lacking a quality experienced goalkeeper too. I expect this to change before the window closes, but as of right now I'd say Alf is spot on in saying we are currently a lower mid table standard team.

No, but the earlier we're prepared the better. Remember, next year is about promotion not making-do. We should take every advantage we can, and I've no doubt that AK will want as close to an assembled squad as possible asap.

Mid table to flirting with the playoffs for me.
Happy to be proved wrong as long as it's in our favour!

Go and look at everybody else’s transfer activity Alf, we are miles ahead everybody else as it is

I predicted tenth, but that was before I realised the extent of transfer ambition this year. I'd predict top 10 too now.

The other teams don't need to be as active. Those challenging for promotion already have their squads built to a large degree from previous seasons.

We don't. Our squad is severely lacking for a promotion push.

If we're to compete we can't rest on our laurels.
