Thread: Jack Robinson

Slightly uneasy on this one atm.

    2 big points.

    1. Hope he's over his injury troubles
    2. Hope can still play left-back and we've not just signed Danny Fox mk.2 who can no longer play left-back.

Be interesting to see if we sign another option. Feel like maybe it'll be between him and Osborn for LB.

Perhaps he's been brought in to play centre half as part of a back three and we are going to sign someone who can play left back and left wing back as well?

A two year deal makes me feel a bit less apprehensive - Fawaz would have just given him 5!

Also I suspect it's to give him the chance to prove he's over his injuries and show his ability, with a view to a longer deal later.

I wouldn't have thought so with the number of wingers we have now.

I think our formation of choice will be 4231. Not saying we won't use 352 but think we'll fit the wide men in attacking role.

because I like numbers I'm going for 3-4-3

Karanka doesn’t have much history playing three at the back and since he’s been here he’s signed 3 players who play predominantly on the wing (Dias, Lolley, Diogo) and another two who can operate there (Carvalho, Soudani).

I don’t think 3-4-3 is that likely either, considering we’ve just destroyed our transfer record for a number 10.

    All evidence points to 4-2-3-1

Personally I'd be a maverick playing 3421, with signals and only one wide-man who can play on either side supporting a 10 behind a no9.

Would it work on FM? Maybe someone can trial it out for me.

A left wing back who performs better centrally? He’s back up to Danny Fox.

Looking at QPR Twitter, he was injured for 3 seasons but played great in his 4th season and jumped ship.

I had hoped we would never sign an injury prone player again after the last 5+ years of disgrace regarding the biscuits, but it's done now and who knows maybe he can stay fit like Ayala and Hutchinson do for their clubs now we're not such a clusterfuck.

Unless AK sees Osborn as a serious competitor for the left back slot we will sign another. Fábio?

Initially I thought that too, but QPR supposedly offered him a very healthy contract. Are we in the position to offer similar for a back up LB?

Yeah I have a feeling AK sees Osborn as an option at LB.

He seems decent enough whenever I’ve seen him. If he stays fit he should be an ok signing. Even though he played centre-half a lot last year, I think he’ll play left-back here. I’d stil like to see another LB come in though. Fabio would be great as he can play both sides.

Looks like an alternative to Clark to me, which would suggest backup

Why would Clark be back-up if he had signed? He's the only serious left-back we were linked with until Robinson and briefly Fabio.

Dunno whether Karanka is of the same opinion but if it was up to me we would be signing two

That's fair enough. I'm not totally sold on Robinson as our only real recognise LB.

But I get the feeling it will be him and Osborn going for it.

It's a squad game.its not about having a first choice and back up. We need two players who are both good enough for a top six team.

Plus, the thing that suggests to me that he would be backup option is both he and Clark were free transfers. In pretty much every other position we are looking at pricey players.
