Why is it that Forest Business is now inextricably linked to Olympiacos? I know we have the same Owner but we are our own club not Olympiacos' B team.

I think you answered that question yourself

You can reverse the names of the two teams in your two sentences and hear the sort of grievances one may hear in Greece.

Forest are getting the benefit of the relationship. Oly are unlikely to get any benefit until we are promoted (if)

The Greek press (and especially a veteran Olympiacos reporter with good connections in Portugal) insists that he's close to us.

Rumours he's landed in London with Mendes this morning.

Looks a talent, and if he does sign, we need someone who can score pens cos he looks like he gets fouled a lot.

Still not really sure we need him with the options we already have, but at the same time, his talent is there for all to see.

No issues if he does go to Olympiacos, sounds like they need him more.

If a player of this quality is available and wants to sign, then you sign them, regardless of any other considerations.

Having become blase about rapid sock removal signings in recent weeks this would be ramping it up another notch, if it happened.

It only takes a second to score a goal.

The first guy I saw say that on twitter only had 2 followers, wasn't a Portuguese paper or anything.

Also, this guy is a different level to anything else we have. Would be a good signing for a lot of Premier League teams.

    100%.

More options for Forest on a game-by-game basis, more options to cover injuries, chance of a big sell on fee to another club, more competition for places and getting the likes of Cash, Lolley to work even harder.

Can't see a downside to this if he's on a free.

Would play him centrally to get him on the ball more. Think he will start scoring more too.

Wonder if it’ll be halfway and he signs here but goes on loan to Oly?

I agree with above, this signing would be the cherry on the cake but equally I wouldn’t be sad if he went to Oly.

I thought about that but I cannot see what the benefit would be for either team.

Something I've been meaning to ask for a while: what on earth is the basis of estimates I see on twitter that Podence's value is 60m euros, the other Portugueuse kids 50m euros etc.? Are we talking about real money or Monopoly?

People seem to take release clauses literally, I don't think people understand them, either that or they choose to ignore them.

Believe they were the release clauses set by their Portuguese clubs.

And people take the (often very silly) amounts of release clauses as actual market values?

In funerary inscriptions of the Graecoroman world there are often dissuasive fines for those who desecrate or reuse tombs. The fines are supposedly paid to emperor and the amounts are often ridiculous. I'm pretty sure nobody believed his funerary monument was worth 500,000 sestertii.

When dealing with a large cross section of people such as Twitter I often think back to something I once heard...

Think of the person you know who you would say has the most average intellect, not smart, not an idiot just average. Now realise half the population (in this case Twitter) are below the intellect of that person, you probably get your answer as to why people on Twitter believe a release clause = a players value.

Funnily enough, this scenario is now put forward in the Greek press, where it is attributed to "English sources". These sources may very well be you.

My thinking was the club want to sign him but Karanka can't find a place for him, so would send him to Oly for a year then he would take the place of one of Dias or Goncalves when they return from loan.

Here's a thought, given that our chairman etc clearly have a tanker gull of street smarts. What if he actually wants to play for Oly, but we've said 'sign a contract with Nottingham Forest but play for Olympiacos "on loan", then we can 'buy' you officially for say £20 million in say a year?' - Forest's cash flow gets a stonking boost, whilst the player & Oly get what they both really want, too? Only a thought!
