Working in Nottingham today, knocking off at 4. Nipping to Fopp to have a look at the record sale, then going to find some nice beer to have tonight.

No idea where in Nottingham to go, mind. Tesco?

Is that fancy off-licence still there on Derby Road, just before it meets Maid Marian Way?

That used to have a good range of beers and ales.

This looks like it could be up your street too

Brew Cavern, as linked by Redemption comes highly recommended.

If you have time and the means to get over to West Bridgeford, I recommend Hopology too.

Do you know what, I didn't think of there but have been in before. It's usually better for my wallet to avoid it, especially after going record shopping

Never heard of Hopology, but it's the wrong way for me.

Might drop into Kraftwerks in Sherwood, if it isn't too late. Similar sort of place.

I usually stop off at Hopology on my way back from Nottingham, as it's sort of on my way back to Peterborough, with a small detour. I usually go in intending to get about half-dozen bottles of something interesting and limit my spending to £20-ish.

I usually come out with two crates full and a £100 plus bill.

Hopology is great, but damaging to the finances.

I’d recommend my local Bier-Outlet, „Die Bierothek“, but it would be a bit of a commute for you, Freddie.

The range of Biers though is fantastic.

Last night was Lads' Night Out and as driver I was alcohol free.
I tried a Brew Dog Nanny State (0.5% abv).
    Absolutely disgusting.
Ok when sipped, but it leaves a vile, nasty after-taste.
    Never again.

Got some McEwans Champion. Always liked Export and this is the stronger stuff at 7.3%.
Still tastes like good ale though, unlike those strong lagers were you know there is something sinister going on and you are going to wake up the next day with a head like a bag of cement.

Bought a few different pale ales for the weekend and this one from Lidl was by far the best.

He couldn't drink that stuff, it's too strong.
He'd feel dead woof in the morning if he tried.

What are the low-alcohol beers the cognoscenti would recommend?

There is one somewhere but you can also write like this.....

    Dankeschoen.

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

I think the German language is one of the easiest to read as every letter is pronounced. No silent letters at all.

Regional accents obviously have a spin on this but it’s one of the reasons spoken German can sound hard.

The only time the sound of a vowel changes (a, o and u) is when an umlaut is used.
