    Default Alan Hutton

Apparently offered him a 2 year deal.

    Interesting.

He was one of Villa’s best players last season and will certainly give us some much needed height.

He's old. Not bad on a free I suppose.

Thought he was very good when he came on loan a few years back. My Villa mates all love him, I’d be pleased with this.

As much as I like Lichaj, Hutton would certainly be an upgrade. Very good player at this level, hope this happens.

My dad will be pleased. If I had a pound for every time he’s said we should resign Hutton etc.

It only takes a second to score a goal.

When I heard the Eric leaving rumour, matched with Villa falling apart, I knew we’d be in for Hutton.

Should have put money on it

    Be a very good deal.

Solid, strong, good in the air and decent on the ball too.

    Very happy if this happens.

Not too happy that another 30 year old would be getting a contract here, personally.

Keep seeing people say he is a Lichaj replacement, don't see it personally. Karanka kept faith with Darikwa at RB since he came in (and actually put in some good performances at the end of the season) and Hutton played left back all last year.

Wait for Cinders to confirm interest first.

Nothing wrong with signing players over the age of 30 on a free if they’re short term deals and are still capable at this level.

Two players competing for one position rather than one player and a guy the manager doesn’t rate. Sounds much better.

He’s a better player than Lichaj, which is the bottom line.

Considering we are getting two fullbacks for free (Hutton & Clark) and 400k for our current one, and both the incoming ones will improve us it seems like good business on the face of it.

Seems like a good head to have around the place, especially if he can do a good job either side (Lichaj never really did well at left back, did he?)

I'd say replacing Lichaj, Traore, Hobbs and Mills with Hutton, Clark, Dawson and Figueiredo is also good business. Assuming Hutton and Clark sign, we are looking stronger at the back than this season just gone.
