The slow-cooker is on "High" until 7:00 p.m., cooking up a veritable feast: Mediterranean Lamb Shanks.
the lamb is "stewing" in a melange of sliced red onions, tomatoes, garlic, a couple of hot chillies, chopped red & yellow peppers, a couple of shallots, fresh rosemary sprigs, and a few quartered mushrooms.
The liquid is half a bottle of white wine and half a pint of lamb stock.
I will be serving this with creamy mash potato, savoy cabbage and whole baby carrots...

The cider and chips restored my faith in you on this. I thought you was a man of the people, but you’ve got your rib eye steak whilst Barry gets corned beef hash.

A fine effort there. A decent steak, chips, and Henry Weston’s cider.

It couldn’t be more British if it christened itself King Henry V, and leapt out of the pan, shouting „once more unto the breach, dear friends!“

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

Barry should spend less on meatballs at Ikea then he might be able to dine like us in the upperclasses.

It's Toad in the Hole for our Sunday dinner tho. Got to cut back to afford the smartphone.

It’s a decent drop, especially over ice on a warm day.

Corned beef is an underrated cut of meat... corned beef and red sauce is a sandwich that stands up to any other

Swap red sauce fur Brown sauce and you have a king of a sandwich there.

Also Jamaican Bully Beef with rice is a decent Scran.

We had tinned stewing steak often at one time and it’s still one of my favourite things, especially with chips and peas.

Dad was part of a tank crew during Ww2 in North Africa. During a period of hostilities dad's tank gave up the ghost and the crew were confined to the camp. The camp came under fire and dad spent 2 days with his head down. A sergeant appeared on the scene after the second day. Lads the cookhouse has taken a hit. 3 dead. Anyone here cook. Dad was a crap cook but he thought fk this and his hand went up like a shot. He spent the rest of the war as a cook and learnt how to feed hungry men on next to nothing a skill that kept 8 hungry sons well fed

I will never ever understand people putting sauces on steak. You buy a lovely bit of rib eye which is full of flavour and then slap a sauce all over it. Salt, pepper and at most a little bit of garlic butter. Rant over haha!

Minus the sauce it does look great though.

I do like a bit of balsamic reduction on a steak but, yeah, most the time just enjoy the meat, while helping the world burn.

A few pieces of Stilton in those mushroom caps, then grilled, makes a really tasty side dish with the steak.
