Didn't MacAnthony/ Evans say they rejected £8m in January for Marriott? Sure that was said on the radio last night.

Goes back to what I was saying last night as well, he's one of the only genuine strikers scoring goals outside of the Premier League in the Football League. There will be a lot looking at him.

Can you see them rejecting 8m ? I can't. Boosting their asset.

Once again the club know that in 4 months the club can't sign anyone anymore so they clearly got to get their work wrapped up.

No I really can't see that they would reject £8m for the lad after half a decent season, just repeating what was said last night.

This would feel like more of a gamble than Maddison would imo. Especially at £5m.

I must admit I haven't watched much L1 or L2 this season which I always enjoy doing so I don't know what style of player he is. Don't think you can be just a goalscorer anymore or immobile.

Take someone like Nelson Oliveira and his pedigree and what he would cost but yet isn't prolific. Never has been and never will be.

Deadly finisher, absolutely brilliant killer instinct, but not sure he does much else. Congo?

Goes back to what J'psych said about the team reshape. Could see it working with us bombing forward from counterattacks, but would require around 4-5 other key players to get it all working.

Maddison will factor in to that. 2 parts of Posh's M & M's setup there.

Judging by the videos, he seems to have very good positioning and timing in rushing forward, and good, 'sweet' finishes.

I've only seen Peterborough maybe 3 or 4 times this season but he's very much a fox in the box, he's got a good turn of pace playing off the last man as well.

Pretty much as Alf said he looks adept to playing on the counter.

I've never seen this guy kick a football but it's good to see we're already getting work done on bringing signings in in the summer.

Willing runner - keeps defenders on their toes, always looking to get on their back shoulder. Also, his goals have largely come being deployed in a similar 1 striker, 3 advanced midfielders set-up, so is proven in Karanka's favourite formation.
The weaknesses to his game are, he's not the biggest or strongest, so often struggles to bring others into play and often makes the wrong choice as he's Assombolonga-level blinkered and will always go for goal even when team-mates are better placed.

Having said all of that, I'm convinced he'll be a big success at Championship level.

Nottingham was in Europe, last time I checked.

    Well, until next March anyway.

It'll still be in Europe! Just not the EU, maybe.

Cheers Congo. Have seen a fair bit of him in highlights, but that's about it, so appriciate the info.

Actually sounds very much like what we need. What will be key is to who we place around him. Would feel a bit for Posh if we nabbed all their M&M's tbh.

They'll make an extremely tidy profit off it. MacAnthony has said they won't sell Marriott for £5m and Maddison is around £2.5 so it'll probably be around £8-10m for the pair? Not bad considering they paid £500k for Marriott from Luton and £315k for Maddison from Gateshead, imagine the players they could find from the lower leagues again with that profit.

We'd have to pay them first!

That's how they keep the club running though. Also, it's worth baring in mind that they do get through an awful lot of lower league 'rough diamonds' that don't work out as well. Between Connor Washington and Jack marriot they tried and failed on such sparkling names as Tyrone Bennett, Shaq Coulthirst, Luke James, Souleymane Couilibaly, Lee Angol, Idris Kanu, Ricky Miller, Tom Nichols, Matty Stevens, Deon Moore, Joe Gormley, Arron Williams and Kyle Vassell...that's a list of failed strikers that would make even us blush.

For all these player sales that Peterbrough make every year they don't progress much do they?

They don't even have a good training ground or stadium. Where does the money go?

Barry Fry’s Chip Butty budget, probably.

Largely player salaries and less successful transfers. When your average gate is somewhere around 6-7,000 something has to pay the bills.

It's all about timing. Much like Hart's season, getting a good crop together & adding quality at the right time is that rare golden opportunity which lower sides get to become higher sides.

Sadly, cvnts like Marthur are fucking fannies who shit out and sell all the kids instead.

Well that answers the oft asked question, ‘why don’t we sign Peterbrough’s head of recruitment?’

It only takes a second to score a goal.
