We have a foreign keeper to be our #2

I thought Kapino was as good as out the door tho? He is also very timid for our league

Since the abolition of short term loans clubs have to have two first team keepers as an insurance policy in case one gets injured.

We may even well have done, but Frankfurt have a very good team. Shout for a European spot next season. Some real talent there and if it was between us and them, I think most sensible players would choose them.

They are already playing in Europe this season, due to winning the DFB Pokal in an astonishing upset over FC Bayern.

But they’ve been quietly improving, and I reckon next season could make a real run at the top four.

According to a report in the Greek press Jorge Mendes flew to Athens twice in order to strike his overall deal with Marinakis, just a week before you signed the Portugueuse duo.

I see Oly have also signed Roderick Miranda, another Mendes client

Whilst we don't need Varela right now, if we can get him, and he's any good (which idk), he's only 23 so would be great as a long-term option.

Pantillimon could easily have five years left, so it is a little strange.

I get the feeling we're about to have a keeper clear out and Kapino, Henerson, Evtimov probaly will go.

Pantilimon, Varela, and Smith will be our 3 GKs.

Have to agree with this. I'm all for investing heavily in areas that need it, but signings like this are where we risk wandering into Villa/Derby/Sheffield Wednesday territory of making expensive signings for the sake of making expensive signings.

If this signing happens, one of Pantilimon or Varela will be an expensive and unhappy bench warmer.

Seems Vrentzos is back at Oly and sorting a few deals out there (Podence, Miranda, Hassan?).

I would assume we will try and finish our business when we get back from Spain? The timeframe would also fit to the Colback "deadline".

Jukcevic, Byram, Marriott will do me. Then clear out the leftovers.
Thought Jack Robinson looked pretty accomplished at LB last night and Ryan Yates more than held his own.

AK said a R.B & C.M are top of our list.
Looks like we're going with Osborn L.B cover which worries me.

Me too. But at least he's not midfield cover.

Ben Osborn is more than good enough to be midfield cover. We're fortunate to have a player with his versatility and commitment to call on.

Hes only played in shit relegation threatened sides so far, where we are aiming to be hes not been and the jury is still out on whether he (and others) are good enough to take us where we wanna be.

For example theres no doubt last season his side was targeted on numerous occasions by numerous clubs when at full back. Its not a conincidence that the opposition identified this as a week spot within their game plan.

For me the lad really needs to nail down a position for his own career more than anything. Hes not fast enough to be a winger (before anyone says "but Robbo wasnt" lets not be daft enough and put any current player in the same skill set as Robbo, its mind boggling to read) which leaves him in the centre where i think we have better.

I do honestly think his versatility will be his downfall.

He was targeted at full back due to his height. I wouldn't want him filling that position next year but he's more than capable enough of filling in central midfield and probably behind the striker too, especially if the movement of the Portuguese players are as good as we hope.

Maybe we'll see he's actually a good player when he is part of a top six team?
Different positions I know but didn't the crowd at Forest complain about versatility with Perch even Cohen
Not good enough for NFFC mentality is always lurking in the background at Forest..... Gunther, Morgan, even McGovern, etc?

Probably did but then neither player went on to have a great career or even more than a flirt with the big league.

As is the mentality that every player we produce/buy has "something" worth plugging away at. I werent around for Mcgovern but for the three you have mentioned there are literally hundreds that came, left and have gone on to do fuck all that folk would have argued to keep.

Unfortunately Forest stopped being good at polishing turds in the 80s

    And lack of pace.

Neither things that will improve even with a good pre season.

I like Osborn, but if AK doesn't see a role for him in midfield next season then we really should sell him. Absolutely no point whatsoever in keeping him here just to be a back up left back when it would make far more sense to sell him and use some of the money to buy an actual left back, won't do Osborn's career any good either.

Don't think he's slow mate. He's perhaps a bit susceptible to the through ball as he's not played full back at this level before but that's not a lack of pace.

It's also things which wouldn't hamper him doing a job in midfield either, nor would it have much of a negative impact if in the unlikely event we lined up as a 3-4-2-1 and he played left wing back.

If we can cash in on him then great, but I don't think he's as bad as some are making out, and easily good enough to be cover in a side which is attempting to break the top six rather than guaranteed to get it.

Starting up top for Norway in the first game of the u19 Euros against Portugal.

Rumours of bids that have been in from Juventus already.
