No doubt you're right, but that doesn't stop me hating the entire concept of displaying any company brand or logo on a football shirt other than its manufacturer.

I'm genuinely bewildered by those fans who object to purchasing a new replica shirt without a sponsor's name on it as has been the case in the past when they've been released between a change of sponsor.

The 888 one is the only Adidas one I’ve got with the sponsor on as it’s not too naff plus was only £10. I’ve got the white with red pinstripes, yellow, black/gold and plain red all sponsor free and they look beautiful.

This is unfortunately the thing that gets sold to sponsors, they get their brand printed on replica shirts that fans buy. Why don't sponsors buy the shirts for the fans given all of the free advertising they get every time a fan wares a replica shirt??

They treat fans like free advertising sandwich boards that the fans pay for themselves. Bloody crazy if you think about it.

Which, as I say, completely mystifies me as to why some fans pass-up the opportunity to purchase an advertisement-free shirt.

As a now recovered football and rugby shirt pervert, its the desire to look exactly like the players - it passes, but certainly when I was a young-un, I just wanted the same kit the players had - that's why I used to get those Barclays badges and get me mum to put them on the sleeves! and get shipstones melted on at the club shop. My lad's 8 and he was a bit disappointed his most recent kits didn't have 888 on the front.

Did they fit enough sponsors on there?

I do get that mate, because each of my lads wore them when they were youngsters in the '80s and in the '90s, and my grandkids more recently.

For the record, although I've never owned a replica Forest shirt - they simply weren't available when I was growing up - I don't have a problem with them per se, I just prefer to see them without an advertising logo.

I’ve owned loads of our replica kits over the years but the one that has had by far the most wear and is the best made is the long sleeved round necked 1960’s one.

I'd have certainly bought one of those had they been available at the time Si. You could only buy a generic red and white round-necked, long-sleeved football shirt from Redmayne & Todd in those days, which resembled that truly classic Forest shirt by its colours only.

Marketing bullshit to the masses in a crazy 'must have' society.

    Forgive.

I cheated and bought one from Selectadisc in the late 1980’s. Toffs do them now and my son has one.

My first replica shirt was when Fawaz was shifting stuff out of the shop to put in the 150th Anniversary kit. Selling shirts, without the sponsor logo, for £2.50. Bought four of them and use them in the garden and on the allotment, excellent value. Quite hard wearing, too.
