„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

You might think you’re suave and cool, but are you as suave and cool as Adlene Guedioura?

    I suspect not.

'Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings' - Salvador Dali 1904-1989

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

I had no idea who that was but quick Google of the town and a flick through wiki and it would seem it is a bloke from a punk band that I have never heard of The Fall.
I think you have mentioned them before so I take 10 of of 10 for my detective work.

Spot on mate, it's Mark E Smith, sadly no longer with us. The Fall were a great band.

The Fall were insanely good. Like every listen you get something new.

The only ever picture taken of Concorde flying at 66,000 (allegedly) feet and Mach 2. It was taken from a RAF Tornado.

Did you know Concorde had no glide capability?
If the engines stopped it would have (note: have, not of) dropped pointy-nose first straight down.
What an amazing piece of engineering.
My Dad helped develop the engines.

My favourite Concorde fact - it generated so much heat in-flight, it actually grew in length by half a metre and that caused it leak fuel.

Also, a cool trick (go and visit one of the now-static exhibition Concordes) is that the nose expanded due to the heat, and it became traditional for retiring pilots to jam their Caps into the edge of the Cockpit so that when it landed (and the metal cooled) the Cap was stuck there.

I was at Kew Gardens when all of the remaining ones flew over one by one to land at Heathrow on their final flight. An impressive way for them to retire but quite sad in a way.

I am not sure about the glide thing I remember watching a program which claimed that if all the engines failed at Mach 2 it would glide for about 200 miles but landing would be a challenge. Similar flight characteristics to the Space Shuttle and that always glided in.

Wonder whether we'll ever travel supersonic again. I'd have loved to have flown on Concorde.

It’s the speed; Concorde was so fast, it world struggle to decelerate properly in a non-powered landing.

It’s why the Space Shuttle had a massive parachute out the back to slow it down once it hit the runway, and there were only certain (very long) runways that would be able to handle it (Cape Kennedy, obviously, Edwards AFB in California and Zaragoza in Spain, which was the alternative for aborted takeoffs).

Love a good fact like the ones posted.

I find it hard to fathom that at this point in time the furthest a man has travelled was still in the 70s and the fastest man has travelled in bulk was developed again around that time.
