Equally, some won't stop expressing their negativity towards him.

Because he refused to do what Rafa Benetez asked him to do in training, and they dont think he's that good.

I keep tweeting about him in the hopes that somehow the football universe will answer and bring him back to the club.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see him rock up here on a season long loan on deadline day.

I am kind of half expecting that to happen too, though I hope the club still signs another midfielder or two rather than banking on that opportunity becoming available.

This is obviously the reason the transfer of a midfielder, which is a blatantly obvious need, has delayed so much: you're waiting to see what happens with Colback.

    I can see why.

He fits the need to a tee. He's got the instincts to break up play and cover the back four, but he's also mobile, and is far better on the ball than he gets credit for too.

Need good strength in that middle to buffer the giant athletes of the 2cnd division midfields, if Watto gets injured they'll pour through us like melted butter.

Looks like jack isn’t in Bruce’s named 25 man squad

Semedo seems to have taken on Colback's crown but not convinced on his fitness. If we can get the Ginger Ninja back we should go for it, even if it means putting him deeper in Watson's place.

Would be the ideal player for the Watson role.

Would be welcome but let's have a decent striker too.

Semedo has nothing to do with Colback, he's clearly a box-to-box no 8. Colback is ideal for what a modern defensive midfielder should do. If there's still a chance to get him back, it would be a major improvement in your midfield: Colback, Semedo and Silva (with Sow, Watson and Johnson as replacements) until Carvalho is fully fit, and then you'll see how it goes after Carva returns. It would be even better if you replaced Watson with Yates when the latter is full fit.

    Bang on the money.

I feel Semedo, Silva and all the new chaps would settle & thrive quicker with a solid, experienced, consistent influence around them in Colback.
