    This is absolutely right too.

Didn't have the Sales of Bowie, but a proper legacy. Touched generations of music lovers in every decade since the 70s.

It doesn't feel wrong to say that MES a fork in the evolution of of rock music - from Sonic Youth* onwards, you can see that influence still today.

*contraversial given the psat between him and Moore, and the latter's claim to never had heard of them. But this is anotehr discussion.

Having worked in a bingo hall as a teenager to earn some pocket money "Bingo Master's Breakout" always held a special place in my heart.

The guy in the song does himself in with pills and booze.

I often felt that way after a shift there.

    RIP Mark. Never conform.

Just listened to the Marc Riley eposide of Adam Buxton's podcast.

Marc talks about life in The Fall and how he fell out with Mark E and how he left the band.

From what I remember in one of the books I've read, Marc dropped MES on a dance floor whilst on tour in Australia. They (a few members of the band) were dancing to The Clash and MES gave them a rollicking.

Yes that's pretty much the story that Marc tells. Apparently MES had a habit of giving his band members a slap but Marc was the first one to hit him back.

They (Buxton and Riley) were talking about a tv interview that Smith and Riley did the next morning, not watched it yet but I've just looked it up on youtube

Am I the only one to think Mark E smith was a bit over-rated?
