A wish his surname was Alaff, so when folk asked who he was we could say "he's Arvin Alaff"

Beginning to look like he can contribute as a squad player this season. The little dribbling run across their back four was good.

Made a few mistakes though - I wouldn't play him game after game just yet.
He has bags of potential and we don't want to ruin his potential by expecting too much too soon.

Arvin should have been used in the run in last season imo. But glad to see his involvement now. He's good enough to make an impact.

What a difference a few months makes. He's bulked up a lot, and a couple of the Palace defenders simply bounced off him.

Seems very clear that Lamouchi is going to favour inside wingers with very aggressive full backs, so it's Lolley on the right and one of Adomah, Ameobi and Arvin on the left.

Yeah he has definitely bulked up.

He reminds me of Sterling in the games I have seen of him, you think he's gonna be easy to knock off the ball but he really isn't.

Appiah is at his best on the right cutting in. But can play left sided too.

Best part is all 4 can play either side, creates so many options.

Might just be due to numbers, but from what Iíve seen in pre-season, Ameobi has played up front and just behind the striker a fair bit.

So I wouldnít rule out Appiah getting game time this year, or us buying another winger either.

This could make a significant difference next season. Having that ability to interchange the wingers during the course of a game could pay dividends.

He has - he played in the hole last night and against Oly it was harder to tell but it was a mix of 4-2-3-1 with Ameobi in the hole and 4-4-2 with Ameobi alongside Grabban.

But I'm not convinced he'll get minutes in the league in that position when Carvalho and Silva are challenging for that role.

Feet firmly on the ground here. Sensible post (for once).

You know who he really reminds me of? A player Iíve seen a lot of in the last year or so?

    Jadon Sancho.

(Shhhhhh. For fuckís sake donít tell anyone).

Maybe. But as we only gave him a 1 year deal, maybe it was his versatility that attracted us? He could be the 3rd choice striker and number 10 and 4/5th choice winger?

He's all of those things as well as a player you can bring on for height from crosses and set pecies for last five minutes if we need a goal to equalise.

He's nowhere near that level. What is it anout him that reminds you of Sancho?

Of course, heís nowhere near that level. But some of his movement reminds me of Sancho, who is a direct player running from a wide position.

Iíve (unsurprisingly) seen a lot of Sancho this last season, going from this time last year when virtually nobody outside of England had heard much about him, until Dortmund took a punt on him. And he has delivered.

Will Arvin ever be that good? Who knows. But heís got potential. When you see young Appiah, thereís something about him, he looks like a player.

Have to say, don't share the entusiasm of others over Appiahs ability to influence the game at present. Close call between Ameobi & Adomah, but with Adomah looking to have a touch of class about him, Id give him the shirt & use Ameobi as an impact player.

He's not really got the footballing brain to go with his good feet at the mo. It'll come hopefully.

I see him as an impact sub this season. His fresh legs would be a nightmare for full backs in the latter stages of matches.
