Definitely the best we could have hoped for. Will instill organisation, discipline and plays decent football. Rated very highly by Boro fans.

    Fantastic appointment.

Karanka’s Boro played a passing game whenever I saw them.

    Adam Clayton anyone?

It really is as simple as that.
What if we all try REALLY hard this time

Bloody hell there are a lot of negative comments on here. There is nothing on the NFFC website yet.

MW would have sent them out to play the exact same predictable way in both games and we’d have lost. GB is no master tactician but he’s exposed MW’s failings in comprehensive fashion. QPR was good but they let us play and weren’t really testing opponents. I don’t think Holloway got the memo about how predictable MW’s tactics were.
Im Sorry ravi but thats not true, we did nothing going forward vs Leeds and had they had slightly better finishing they win 1 or 2 nil. Preston was probably the best away performance this season and they are no mugs.

Could still be playing today and had not scored against Leeds.

As long as he gets us out of this relegation zone- that’s all that matters

Reference GB , He manages the whole academy and has no direct input on the coaching of the kids now days, While being missed I personally think we would get more out of him if he took a new first team role.

So, Karanka was an assistant at a certain team in Madrid. Is he for Real?

Fair enough, I didn’t see Preston away, but it’s rare to go away to a top six team like Leeds and expect them to not create a chance.

I stand by the rest of what I said, and assuming Karanka is the new manager, I’m pleased at how things have worked out.

To be honest GB was always going to go back to the academy despite one creditable result in the championship and one outstanding one in the cup. (I do think too many got too misty eyed over the cup result yes it was a brilliant day and we are all bursting with pride but cup games are one offs and one swallow does not make a summer etc. We e had a number of one off cup results in round 3 v premiership opposition in recent years (Charlton, Man City, West Ham) and never followed up) So we now have a permanent appointment with a good record, including automatic promotion from the championship, so we should now support Karanka (it was not his fault MW was sacked) give him time (elephants can fly!!) and see where we are this time next year. What I’m really looking forward to is seeing who we have got lined up for transfers this January because it can’t possibly be all back to square one - can it?

Sorry Rav, not really a fan of U2. That Bono is a right knobber.

Give him time - no he's not the Simon Grayson we all wanted, and yes we wanted warbs to stay, but there's nothing to be gained from misery.

Good luck to our new manager!

Oh dear, BBC Sports page comments are not filling me with optimism (I hope these are wind ups).

That'll be the last time Forest fans see 4 goals for a while!

Karanka has a solid plan A and no plan B.

Very defensive, sideways and backwards with 1 up front. Expect boring 1-0 or 0-1 from now on. There is no compromise with him, he's very stubborn and change/quick thinking is not his style.
    and

Best defensive record in the Championship when getting Boro promoted in 15/16 season but lowest scorers in the top six. So Forest should get a good base to build from but whether we'll see the sort of football played yesterday is open to debate.
    and

It will be interesting to see if Karanka has learnt anything from his time at Boro. He is organised and will sort out the defence, playing one up front was all he did. No plan B etc.
    and
Couldn't wish this on any team. He drove Boro fans to distraction, he was never the same after he walked out/broke down before almost throwing promotion away at the end of the season. Never seen so many useless signing as were made before the premiership campaign. Still, Forest fans might get a good laugh trying to understand his pressers. Cloughie would turn in his grave !!

Hopefully this one is more realistic

Aitor did great for us at the Boro and many of us protested when he left. Forest fans you have got yourselves a genuinely good man and an excellent manager. You will now definitely get into the playoffs, just hope we don't meet you at Wembley in May! The reason for his lengthy absence since last March, btw, was largely down to family reasons, covered at length in the Times' article of 30/12/17.

We employ a manager who's previously taken a middling Championship side to automatic promotion within two seasons and people still moan!

He took over at a similar time in the season at Boro. Spent the first half season getting them playing his way and making additions to the squad. Reached the play off final the following season, and the top two the season after. Not bad.

If he did as well here he’d certainly get the time.
