He's scored 8 goals in the last 5 games since replacing Assombalonga as their number 1 striker. Could have have turned these draws into wins and had us 5 points outside the playoffs.

    If if if.

I’d rather have Britt back everyday of the week.

Yeah that's why he ain't getting a sniff at unachieving Boro.

The role of a striker is so much more now than a Ian Rush "put the ball in the box and I'll score" type role.

Teams want movement and mobility especially teams that play one up front.... which boringly is the norm.

Unfortunately Britts body won't allow that requirement. So to get the best out of Britt you need legs around him and is he really that good and more importantly that reliable to build a team around? I don't think so.

He will always score goals in the right environment but the decent teams want more than 30 games a season from the important players... Britt can't guarantee that.

It feels to me like the role of the striker or target man is in a state of flux. Looking around the leagues for the man who Forest could hang their hat on next season it’s hard to see who that 20 goal striker would be; they seem in short supply, yet the goal scoring attack midfielder seems abundant.

Is the role changing to more of a pivot or pendulum in a machine ? A ‘striker’ who plays off the shoulder, Stretches the back four, opening up space for the 3 or 4 AM goal scorers and fullback runners to do the damage? I wonder if Darikwa has had more shots on goal recently than Brereton for example?

Essentially meaning you have 4+ players scoring 10-15 a season?

Think this is exactly how Karanka sees it as well he's spoken about the importance of goals throughout the forward players. With the added bonus that if you do get someone like Bamford in good form he can hit the 15+ mark, as he did under Karanka at Boro.

    So, basically, Garry Birtles then?

Yep good post, Britt was born 10-15 years too late to maximise his impressive goal scoring abilities.

How many of the top sides have a striker like Britt (obviously better) that just score tap ins. Almost all of them have a big unit upfront that can hold his own.

They just aren't around anymore because you have to pack the midfield to compete in games.

If he was born 10-15 years earlier that injury would have finished him at that point imo.

Awesome deft touch for the goal. His technique is a joy to watch when he is playing well as he makes finishing look easy.

Think he has 9 goals in 7 games now.

Ironically Pulis is the first manager to play him down the middle for a long time and he’s scoring for fun.

Privately educated. Most top brass of the Labour Party were Tories anyway (apart from the ones in charge now, obviously).
