No thanks. Keep Darlow and Lascelles and spend the budget on a quality CF

I can see us getting him on loan next summer but we may have to wait a while. I think Chelsea will try and send him off to a Prem side (If Derby go up this year they'll probably get him) for the season like what they tried with Chalobah and if nobody goes for him then he may well end up back here.

So Derby didn't go up, and Bamford has been playing in Chelsea's pre season friendly games. What do you all think the future holds for him? I think he'll go on loan to a mid to low Premier League team such as Stoke or Fulham.

Will struggle to get any premiership football with Fulham next season.

Honestly think he has it in him to be a top 6 striker - he's only 20. A few years learning his trade in the Prem then from 23 onwards I'd expect to see him at somewhere like Spurs.

As long as he isn't here. Ship has sailed we move on. Goodbye.

Yeah I could definitely see him at a club like Spurs in the next few years or so. I just think he's had a few loans with us, MK Dons and a successful spell with Derby last year, it's time to see what he could do in the Premier League.
Would Southampton be a good move for him maybe? Maybe even Everton.

Mourinho apparently really likes Bamford and rates him highly.

But then Lukaku has gone back to Chelsea, Diego Costa has signed, and Torres is still there stinking out the place. Not only that but Chelsea tend to play just the one striker so his chances may be limited to League Cup games unless he goes out on loan like Lukaku did.

And apparently they want to re-sign Drogba also...

Not saying he's of the same quality, but going out on loan to another PL club like Sturridge and Lukaku did, would be a good move. I think the Southamption and Everton suggestions would be a smart move.

Yeah, somewhere like that where they float around the echelons of the top 6. I think he could even play at a top, top club one day, but that's too far away to be able to say yet. All it takes is one of the many temptations which footy players have to take over and he could flush his career away and be back at Derby before he knows it.

He'll be yet another washed up English ''wonderkid'' superstar in five years' time, choosing between early retirement and a pay-for-play contract at Port Vale.

    This ^

To be fair I hardly remember him here. I think the issue is he was looked at with the red tinted specs. He left for chelsea who have a reputation for grabbing a bunch of young English players then letting them go later on.

He really isn't that special, on a par with Hughes as a "football manager wonderkid" who's spoken about for a while as he "gets good in 2018"

Perhaps you don't remember him because he played about six minutes of football in our first team? Ironically a major reason he left.

Why does that equate to him being so highly regarded then as the next big thing? Other than he's young, English and from round here?

Needs another loan in the championship in my opinion, where he'll play as a centre forward week in week out, rather than out wide like he did for Derby. I do. Think he impressed at Derby enough for a premier league team to take a risk on him yet.

He scored goals for fun in our reserves when our seniors couldn't hit a barn door. Chelsea obviously saw enough talent to waste seven figures on a kid who'd never played before and he went to Derby and did well.

With another couple of seasons under his belt it's highly like he'll be plying his trade at a level which is currently above where we are.

I saw him play for MK Dons in a loan spell prior to Derby and he looked awful. Was throwing himself to the ground and looking like he idolised Grant Holt, with a similar lack of skill. I wondered what all the fuss was about. Although to be fair he has supposedly played much better since.

Because he's a young English striker.
They also paid over a mil for Jacob Mellis. How old was bamford when he when he left?

Why is it since he's gone he has hardly ripped up the league?

I doubt he's going to be the next Michael Owen or Wayne Rooney as both of them were already established internationals at that age, not spending time on loan at MK Dons and Derby County
