Default An Evening with Kenny Burns

I'm a little bit excited to be able to announce that our little pub is hosting Kenny Burns for a night next February!

It will be an evening of funny tales and anecdotes, no doubt with plenty of ripe language along the way! (When we spoke on the 'phone to sort out arrangements, I told him that it was a pub with a 50/50 split of Forest and Sheep fans. His reply was "Don't worry, I'll wind the sheep shagging bastards up!")

He is also bringing a little piece of silverware with him....(I need a photographer hint hint, as he has suggested fundraising-more in a mo-by getting pictures taken with him and The Cup with proceeds going to the charity)

We discussed a few fundraising options but he requested that we fundraise for BLESMA which is his charity of choice
    https://blesma.org/about-us/

I have someone who works closely with BLESMA who is sorting out some collection buckets etc and some support. There is also an option on our ticket page for people to donate via PayPal ( we are absorbing the PayPal processing fees).

There are only going to be 60 tickets available, so it will be a cosy event.

I am hoping it goes well as we can then look at hosting similar events which would be fab for me and great for raising shedloads of charity cash also!

There is a small booking fee (just over a quid) as we had to get ticket sales hosted online, but we are absorbing the PayPal fees and any sales (minus cost price of food) over Kenny's fee will be donated to BLESMA also, which should be at least another few hundred quid if it sells out.

If you can't make the event, please consider donating, any raffle prizes gratefully accepted also, and if anyone is/knows a photographer that would be able to do pictures on the night I'd be rather grateful also! Even better if it can be done for free/in exchange for a couple of tickets as that maximises the charity pot!

(Thanks for allowing me to post Flagman x)

Kenny's charity of choice is BLESMA. He's gone up a notch in my estimation.

    Hope it goes well Zoe

Indeed. Help for Heroes is one of our preferred charities and that was when he mentioned BLESMA and we are more than happy to go with his choice.

I was absolutely shitting myself when I rang him for the first time if I'm honest, and he also gave me a bollocking for calling him Mr. Burns and not Kenny!

Ask him if he knew his little kenny was hanging out on that picture

Did one of them corporate dinners before a Forest game once & Kenny Burns was doing the rounds. Have to say he was top value & a proper gent on the day.

Struggle with some of his opinions on modern day Forest but he's definitely a people person, so Im sure this will be a decent night.

    Good luck with it.

Let us know how ticket sales go Zoe. With those limited numbers i imagine you'll sell out, especially if the South Normanton crowd attend.
I'll see if any of the Sutton crowd fancy it, it's not far from us.

I like Kenneth, always comes over as a decent chap and seems to have a real affection for Forest. Would rather see an evening with him than his central defence partner who although a great player was a bit of an arse on the 2 times I’ve met him.

Sounds like it will be a great night, one I'd have loved to attend but it might be a bit of a trek for me...

I've met Kenneth only once (he was doing hospitality at NFFC) and as others have said, he's incredibly good value, with a seeming unending supply of stories and anecdotes to tell, and he's good at working a crowd too.

Good luck with it, for a great cause as well!

Hope it goes well and having spent many years in the trade it is important to get behind any boozer making an effort.
Unfortunately though every time I've come across Kenny in recent times he's been an utter let
down. Spouting border line racism and out dated football opinions. I appreciate he is from another
era, but he's not a particularly good unofficial ambassador for the club.
