    Default Jan Transfer Surprises

I'm surprised that no rumours (of whatever quality) have emerged yet.

    We're only 8 weeks away.

It's apparent we need to add one or two, and poss shift on 4 or 6 - tho I suspect this list might be different than the end of summer list. And the positive aspect of the club at the moment would lend itself to a little push by the chairman and also be attractive to a few up and coming players.

Any thoughts, rumour or nailed on lies?

Hobbs to be boiled down for glue; Chris Cohen to retire from playing and take up a role at the Academy; Vellios sold to Olympiakos; Mills sold to the BBC for the lead part as the hapless Frank Spencer in the reboot of Some Mothers Do Have 'Em!; David Vaughan to bring out his own series, Dave's Apartment, streaming only on PornHub; and the FEC Lads to bring out their own TV Series on NFFC-TV, a retooling of "It's a Knockout!" where the idea is to kick fuck out of random Derby fans.

Mcginn and Morgan are the only rumours so far, i think that McF and MW are keeping theirs cards close to their chests.

I would like to see a few people leave, Hobbs and Mills being 2 so we can replace them with better, possibly let Henderson go if we are getting another goalie.

Id also send Cash out on loan for the season.

Fryatt emerges from a UFO riding Shergar double saddle with Elvis, who both sign five month deals and go on to knock in fifty goals, firing us into the Premier League as champions on a hundred points.

Hobbs plays more than two games in a row.

One of those things is fantastically off-the-scale unlikely.

This reminds me of when Fawaz promised us a "surprise" and we ended up with SOD sacked

It will all depend on who we can manage to offload and whether we can get solid value for money, which is unlikely in January.

I think our main hope is to find a player who is out of favour at his current club and available on the cheap, like McKay and Bridcutt were in the summer.

As it stands, it seems our targets are McGinn, Ronnow and Morgan. None of these three really fit the above, so I will be very surprised if we manage to sign one of them.

One positive is that our flirting with the play-offs will help with attracting players, but it certainly won't be a disaster if we struggle to bring anyone in.

Well in defence of the hapless Kuwaiti, it certainly was a fucking surprise, albeit not a nice one.

Morgan from St Mirren and loaned back for the season.

McGinn if Celtic don’t come in for him.

Focus all out efforts on Ronnow.

If we can pick up more quality like McKay and Bridcutt for around 500k, that would be great, but I think we’ll be fairly quiet.

Would be nice to get another quality wide option from somewhere.

Being very greedy, if we got McGinn, Morgan & Ronnow, i'd be delighted.

Even more delighted if we managed to find a young left-back, who's a composed footballer.

I don't know how that Josh Tymon is getting on at Stoke. But if there's ever the inclination they're willing to move him on, i'd like us to be in there.

Amarii Bell at Fleetwood was drawing admiring glances last summer (Cardiff, Brum, Norwich and Villa were all linked) and he’s out of contract next.

23, tall, left-footed LB who has played regularly for Fleetwood last 2 seasons. I’d be surprised if McParland hadn’t had a look at him.

Warburton always speaks in glowing terms about Traoré though. Didn’t he say he was the best left-back in the division?!

Just thinking back to the summer, the Luton right back James Justin who we bid for has only played 4 games this season, anyone any idea why as I can't find anything.

I often look at Luton match day squads and he's on the bench most weeks.

I think they're just having a really good season so far, so he's not managed to crack the team just yet.

Hope we come out of it stronger as it hasn't always been the case.

I think we aren't far off from a top 6 push and with a few more additions could be a possibility.

Whether we can get anyone decent in though remains to be seen.

We need centre halfs that can pass and are extremely mobile! Also another wide option would be nice. Walker showing form is like a new signing in itself it's great to see!

Goalie for a credible challenge to Smith...unless we have an injury crisis I don't think we should be spending much if anything in Jan.

As I said before, our rival Panathinaikos are trying to sell out (very cheaply) as many players as possible in the January transfer window because they are on the verge of bankruptcy.

Some of them are already being proposed to various Championship teams. Robin Lod, a Finn international, has been linked with Bristol and Wolves. A versatile midfield, but nothing special. In the positions you're looking for additions, I can think of two players. One is Rodrigo Moledo, a good Brazilian centre-back, aged 30, but I think he wants to return to Brazil. Another might be Nicklas Hult, a 27 year old Swedish left back, very pacy, and with a very good cross. If you're looking for a cheap option for a back-up for Traore, he is not that bad.

Unless you want Luke Shaw, whom I read that Mourinho wants to loan out in January.

I think Mr. Marinakis should register himself as a player, that would get around any issues with his ownership whilst his opponents in Greece throw mud at him.

Can you imagine how it would fire up the crowd, watching him warming up by rumbling up and down the touchline during matches?

No need to rush what we doing unless an ultimate bargain pops up.

A future player like Morgan to replace Dowell would be brilliant. Then let him win promotion with St Mirren by loaning him back or agreeing a deal for the summer.

See where we are in the summer for what type of target we can attract.

Come the end of December, I suggest we'll be right up there in the mix with a decision to make.

Stick or twist, with player & management rotation rife in football, long term projects are something of a minefield. Id like to think we;d be giving ourselves a fighting chance in the January window to see the job through.

    Without being reckless naturally.

Why change how we're operating when it's moved us so far forward in such a short space of time though?

I'd keep doing exactly what we are doing. Right players at the right price.

We don't have to be a part of that rotation culture, and we shouldn't make decisions out of the fear of it either.
